PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
. Initiated formal deviation process where none existed before. Designed
documents, negotiated with various Management groups and implemented the
processes. Trained personnel and managed tracking system. Deviation
process is now well established and a precursor to drawing reconciliation
and improvement.
. Created documented 1st Article Approval process for suppliers and Amano
based on PPAP processes. Documented process instructions for suppliers
and Amano. Negotiated with Management to tailor process to Amano's
needs. Trained personnel and supply base to assure consistent drawing
and specification compliance.
. Actively participated in implementation of Toyota Production System at
Amano. Initiated problem investigations using Toyota problem solving
techniques. Supported ongoing improvements to processes.
. Worked extensively with suppliers on Root Cause investigation, effective
Quality System implementation and problem resolution. Identified
supplier, drawing and spec issues, proposed solutions, facilitated and
implemented resolution. Interfaced with Purchasing, Engineering and
suppliers to work through to resolution of design / manufacturing issues.
. Actively participated in Simultaneous Engineering teams for launch of new
products (6 new products at Amano and 2 new transmission lines at ZF
Batavia). Identified issues that impede the efficient and successful
launch of products. Supported all launch activities both within and
outside of my responsibilities. Worked with Engineering, Suppliers,
Materials and Purchasing to identify issues and resolve problems. All
new launches were successful and timely.
. Conducted manufacturing loss studies to identify opportunities for
improvement. Initiated direct hardness inspection to verify heat treated
condition of parts previously scrapped ($200,000 cost savings)
. Coordinated Action Plan Development in response to DOE external audits.
Coordinated effort to elicit system and specific corrective actions from
responsible parties. Combined corrective actions into comprehensive
Audit Response Reports for the customer.
. Developed External Audit Management System, including: audit scheduling
management; audit coordination; corrective action;
verification/validation and closure with DOE. This system has been
presented to DOE and used by the Nevada Quality Family (Nevada Test Site)
as a baseline to develop a universal DOE Audit Management System.
. Issued CAR Trend Analysis Reports and Lessons Learned Reports to FERMCO
Senior Management. These Reports provided FERMCO Management with overall
problem trend perspectives and national benchmark information to enable
system corrections needed to eliminate root cause problems and to avoid
problems encountered by other DOE sites.
. Developed purchase order requirements to assure flowdown and
accountability of specifications and drawing requirements by second tier
suppliers used by the prime vendor.
. Provided guidance and counsel to suppliers with regard to quality systems
and manufacturing processes and effective root cause analysis, resulting
in improved product quality and an overall reduction in discrepant
hardware
. Resolved out-of-control delinquent gage calibration problem (60 per
week), reducing it to zero.
. Worked closely with Air Force to develop joint hardware review system,
resulting in greater control of MRB system and parts, as well as
increased AF confidence in the integrity of the GE organization
. Organized and led Quality Circle Team, resulting in increased employee
involvement and enthusiasm.
. General Electric Aircraft Engines Patent Award, 1984. Patent #4,532,738
(8/6/85) for Blue Light Grit Blast Process - controlled removal of
coating without removal of base metal, using grit blast. $134,000 Cost
Savings, $300,000 Cost Avoidance.
. General Electric Aircraft Engines Patent Award, 1984. Patent
#4,530,861(8/6/85) for Tapeless Shotpeen Mask - pioneered Tapeless
Shotpeening of Hi-Pressure Turbine Blade Airfoil Dovetails. 80% labor
savings, $35,000 Cost Savings.
