WORK EXPERIENCE
Industrial Engineering Intern, 3A Soft Inc
Dec 2008 to Till Date
V Designed and implemented effective production processes.
Responsible for increasing productivity through combined work
steps, removing non-value added tasks, adding automation and the
development of effective work practices.
V Monitored equipment utilization and machine downtime. Developed
and implemented corrective action procedures.
V Designed work layout to improve flow of materials & products by
decreasing cycle times and eliminating bottlenecks.
V Analyzed historical product demand patterns, trends and other
business information in the development of monthly demand
forecasts. Identified appropriate forecasting methods,
maintained associated forecast selection parameters and
generated statistical forecasts. Developed future demand plans
that drive supply chain planning processes.
V Participated actively in continuous improvement activities by
improving productivity and reducing costs.
V Good expertise on Sales and Operations Planning (SOP), Demand
Management, MRP, MPS, Planned Independent Requirements, Stock
Requirement List, Discrete/Repetitive Manufacturing and Flexible
Planning.
Supply Chain Business Analyst - Research Assistant
Aug 2007 to Dec 2008
V Worked on wide range of issues staring from information sharing,
inventory turns, bullwhip effect, distribution and supply
problems at Nike Europe. The scope of the project was to reduce
the order lead times that aroused due to suppliers &
distribution network. Handling of collections as a single
delivery was almost impossible.
V Linear Programming & Constraint Satisfaction programming through
ILOG-CPLEX and Excel Solver were used.
V The recommendation was to setup a new distribution center at
Benelux such that orders from different countries can be
consolidated to make up full loads. This increases the frequency
of inventory turns leading to shorter lead times. Aggregation of
orders helps in reducing the forecast error.
V Result - an investment of $100 million in setting up a
distribution and transportation network showed substantial
savings of $18.5 million per annum. Developed flexibility in
approach to problem solving and ability to push beyond the
obvious to find innovative solutions with solid supporting
analytical data.
Brother International
V Worked on distribution issues that aroused with the after sales
service at Brother International Europe.
V The scope of the project was to increase the customer service
level by reducing order lead times and holding costs at local
sales offices. Extensive data analysis was done in excel &
supply chain model was simulated using ARENA.
V Some of the problems identified were cannibalization of parts,
high stock investment in slow moving lines, long and unreliable
lead times, poor forecasting methods and lack of coordination
between Local Sales Offices (LSOs).
V I led the project from start to end. I was responsible for the
analysis and development of strategic network design.
Supply Chain Analyst, Infosys Technologies Ltd.
July 2006 to July 2007
V Analyzed existing processes and implemented full-life cycle
using ASAP methodology in SAP PP/PP-PI. Involved in all stages
of implementation including project preparation, requirements
gathering and analysis, Business Blueprint,
realization/configuration, Go-live, post-production support, end-
user documentation and training.
V Expertise in Configuring, Creating and Maintaining Materials,
BOM, Super BOM, Work Centers, Routings, SOP, Demand Management
(DM), MRP, MPS, Process/Production Orders, Order Execution,
Capacity Planning, Scheduling, Availability check, variant
configuration and Discrete/ Repetitive Manufacturing.
V Expertise on Repetitive Manufacturing concepts like Rate
Routings, Production lines, Production Versions, Product Cost
Collector, Material Staging and Back Flushing. Extensively
worked on Production Order Creation, Release, Availability
check, Order confirmation, Automatic Goods Issue & Goods
Receipt.
Engineering Intern, Chambal Fertilizers & Chemicals
Jan 2006 to June 2006
V Worked with Cross-Functional teams and developed Process FMEA
for Gas Turbine Generator.
V Studied the operating parameters for the same, conducted Design
of Experiments and identified significant factor effects and
optimal combination of levels for factors for improving the
power output.
V Quality tools were used to identify the 'vital few'
parameters of the 'trivial many' that effect the efficiency
of the Gas Turbine generators. Developed modifications to
existing processes for improved performance, reliability
and cost.
V Conducted ANOVA, Gage R&R, Factorial Design, Statistical
Process Control and capability analysis.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION
Master of Science, Industrial Engineering (Operations Research)
GPA: 3.77/4.00
UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO, The State University of New York
February 2009
Bachelor of Engineering (Honors), Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 6.46/10.00
Birla Institute of Technology & Science, India (BITS, Pilani)
June 2006
PROJECT WORK (Industrial Engineer)
Forecasting and Inventory Management at Burger King
MINITAB, EXCEL
V The challenge was to reduce overstocking, backorders and
cancellations by improving inventory turns.
V Collected Data for the sales and Inventory Levels for the past
three (3) years and analyzed it using Minitab and Excel.
V Used the Pareto Principle to focus on the Patties and carried
out various forecasting methods such as Exponential Smoothing,
Double Exponential Smoothing, Seasonal Decomposition, regression
analysis and winter's method.
V After extensive data analysis it was observed that Winter's method
was supreme & it was suggested to reduce inventory levels by 12%.
Application of forecasting methods to real world scenarios was a
major learning.
Reduction of Total Printing Time using Discrete Event Simulation
ARENA, MINITAB
V The challenge was to reduce the average total printing time
across the university from 23 min to 15 min.
V Data analysis and validation of the model was carried out using
Minitab. The queuing model was studied and ARENA was used to
simulate the model. Developed modifications to existing process
for improved reliability, service & cost.
V Employed contemporary industrial engineering methods as required
to analyze and improve operational performance.
