To: Senior Human Resources Manager
From: Michael A. Jerger
Dear Madam or Sir -
Please consider my attached resume for the open SYSTEMS ENGINEER 2 -
ENGINEERING (UNIX / CACHE position, where I can provide expertise in
installation, configuration, compliance, upgrading, patching,
documentation, and other support to management. I have a long history of
being a key member for investigating and resolving operational and security
issues, producing metrics for customer submission, coordinating resolution
with other staff members, and testing problem fixes.
From February 2001 to October 2009, I worked at Schriever AFB. My first two
years were in the MDIOC Network Operations Center. From May of 2003 until
November of 2007, I was the sole Solaris 8, 9 and 10 Unix System
Administrator for 50 Solaris 8, 9, and 10 operating systems upon Sun Fire
servers. Nine of those servers are dedicated to three separate Oracle Data
Warehouse functions with RAID 5 arrays. From November 2007 until October
2009, I was the sole administrator for an Embedded Test function,
maintaining 39 IBM mainframes and workstations.
I have multiple years of direct hands-on experience with each of: Windows
2000 Pro, Server 2003, XP, CISCO IOS, Solaris 8, 9, and 10, AIX 5.3 and
6.1, Linux, and more. I am quite skilled in Windows and Unix scripting,
software management tools, network management tools, and network system
configuration.
As you can see from my resume, I have been certified by IBM, Sun, Cisco,
and more. I have also attained a CISSP certification, ITIL V3 Foundation
certification, and passed the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
exam. I am trusted with an active Department of Defense Top Secret
clearance.
I am very well versed with the contents of multiple security directives,
the Certification and Accreditation process, Common Criteria, ISO 17799,
Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, etc., and more, as I have had hands-on
experience with some and read many in detail. I conduct self-study and
learn topics quickly, typically on my own time with staff members as
mentors. I download publicly available manuals and regulations and study
the documents after work hours and on weekends.
I am immediately available to begin contributing to your operations. If
brought on board, I intend to remain close to the position; long distance
commuting is not an issue. Travel is always welcomed.
I would like to hear from you and talk more how I can help your business. I
can meet you or your interviewing staff at almost any time with little
notice. I know I will enjoy working in this position.
Sincerely,
Michael Jerger
