I am Responsible for all day to day activities in the Du Bois facility including production, staffing and
scheduling. I am currently working on APICS CPIM certification and continuing my graduate school
studies. During the first 2 years with the company I have
• Overtime reduced by over 90% from prior year, saving over $250K annually.
• Led the first ever kaizen event at my plant, and multiple kaizen events after that with
significant results: over 65% reductions in set-up times, improvements of material flow and
housekeeping, and overall quality improvement.
• Reduced scrap by nearly 50%.
• Drove the elimination of unnecessary stand-alone functions (tool room attendant and scheduler)
• Led the charge in researching, justifying and acquiring new equipment to upgrade the
capabilities of Plant 2.
• Implemented accountability measures such as Corrective Actions within plant and New Hire
testing.

Apprenticeship Instructor
Instructor for several manufacturing courses for a company apprenticeship program managed through
Chesapeake College. Courses taught include Lean Manufacturing Orientation, CNC Programming
(Levels 1 and 2), Computer Aided Manufacturing, Quality Control, Product Testing, and TPM (Total
Productive Maintenance).
Dixon Valve & Coupling Co.; Chestertown, MD June 1996 – March 2008
Production Manager (2004-2008)
Managed all production and scheduling for two manufacturing facilities in separate states. I was
directly responsible for supervision of the hourly and salary employees on two shifts that produced in
excess of 100,000 products a month with more than $180 million in annual sales. The employees I
supervised varied in seniority from a few months to over 30 years.
• Key player in the company wide Lean transition over a 4 year time frame.
• My Lean Manufacturing experience included leading and facilitating numerous kaizen events
with significant results, as well as the responsibility for training new employees on Lean
principles and application.
• Direct involvement with new product introductions including: equipment justifications,
manufacturing automation and budgeting.
• All equipment purchases resulted in a payback of less than 3 years, as well as productivity and
quality improvements.
Quality Supervisor (1999-2004)
Responsible for day-to-day operation of the QC department: inspection of raw castings and completed
parts before shipment; keeping up to date records of scrap, corrective actions, customer complaints,
recalls and customer returns, etc. I was Responsible for having direct contact with customers and
vendors to explain the result of their inquiries and/or discuss quality issues with their product.
Managed an additional department of 11 drilling machines including all setup; troubleshooting and
inventory requirements. Member of company’s STOP (Safety Training Observation Program)
committee from 1998 through 2003.
• Combined and streamlined the quality process of several merged companies.
• Played a major role in the design and development of more than a dozen prototypes that
included industrial test equipment, fuel truck fittings, and safety coupler locks.
• Appointed by division President to reduce obsolete inventory throughout all divisions of
company, which reached nearly $100K of reduced inventory over a 30 month period.
Welder and Fabricator (1996-1999)
Responsible for production runs ranging from 5 to 5000 pieces in sizes varying from 1/2” to 12”.
Responsible for prioritizing and scheduling of jobs to meet customer needs. I gained extensive
knowledge in the operation and functionality of manual machines: lathes, mills, drilling, welding; and
painting processes.
