Employment and accomplishments
2009-Present Glit-Microtron, division of Katy Corporation,
Wrens, GA
Quality Assurance Manager
Assisted in the company turnaround. The company had lost 50% of sales and
substantial market share due to quality issues. It is anticipated that the
company will show positive growth this fiscal year.
With the plant manager, rebuilt the staff and professional positions with
individuals that had the skills and values to form a high performing team. This
is one of the most results driven teams I have ever worked with.
Resurrected the Quality department by establishing basic organizational
discipline and accountability. We now have clear goals and objectives and do
what we say!
Installed structure into the overall organization with a Quality Management
System which included new engineering change procedures, new product
development stage gate processes, document and data control, an external
customer complaint and corrective action system, supplier evaluation,
calibration system, sample retention and traceability system, receiving
inspection and in-process testing.
Restored Lab equipment to operable condition and calibrated equipment that had
never been under calibration control.
Implemented ASTM test procedures and designed custom test protocol for
standardizing performance criteria.
Implemented technician cross training and a training matrix for my 7 direct
reports. The department now consists of six technicians and one engineer.
With assistance from the marketing and product engineering team, standardized
product specifications to fit within the capability of the existing equipment.
Installed an RF pick system in the DC for accuracy of filling orders and
currently evaluating the packaging requirements information flow.
Additional current projects include standardizing and controlling customer
specific requirements within the ERP system, tracking of inventory through
production, and in process inspection in the cut and packaging operation.
1999 -2008 Professional Management & Assoc., Inc.
Evansville IN
Independent Engineering/Technical Contractor
Implemented ISO 9001 and TS 16949 quality management systems in over 30
manufacturers. Completely developed the system by creating the quality manual,
writing all quality procedures and work instructions as required and training
the operation in all procedures. Also trained internal quality auditors and
established the internal auditing process complete with audit plan, scope and
frequency. Managed the entire project from inception to QMS registration while
maintaining tight cost control.
Developed and Implemented Purchasing Systems complete with Supplier Evaluation,
Receiving Processes and Inspections, RFQ, and Contract Revisions.
Installed 6 Sigma culture complete with procedure development and training.
Implemented and trained in Lean Manufacturing tools such as; 5S, Principles of
Cellular Flow, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Set up Reduction, Total Productive
Maintenance, thus eliminating the need for an additional 300,000 sq ft
expansion.
Reduced Process Waste by reviewing value stream and optimizing capital
resources, human resources, and system overhaul eliminating $450,000 of
unnecessary testing.
Radically changed the supply chain to support a lean manufacturing environment.
This eliminated 8 days from the production cycle.
