PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Owner, APTLY SPOKEN PRESS, Hixson, TN. 2003 to Current. Responsible
for all aspects of a small publishing company: inside book design,
cover design, procuring editorial services, distribution to all major
on-line and brick and mortar booksellers, marketing (including press
releases and radio / TV interviews). Closing business.
Buyer, DJO CHATTANOOGA, Hixson, TN. 2008 to 2009. Manufacturer of
therapeutic medical devices. Hired based on the plan to segue into a
Materials Management position that was coming open in a few months.
However, all positions were phased out when corporate made a surprise
announcement that all plant operations were moving to Mexico.
Materials Manager, KILGORE FLARES, Toone, TN (Jackson, TN area). 2001
to 2003. Manufacturer of flares and heat-seeking decoys for the U.S.
military and others. Required a secret level clearance from the U.S.
government. Responsible for all aspects of Production and Inventory

Control, Shipping / Receiving / Warehousing, and Purchasing
departments. Three direct reports: Purchasing Manager,
Production/Inventory Control Manager, and Shipping/Receiving Manager;
and 30 indirect reports. Accountable for maintaining department
budget, establishing salary levels, and class "A" material
negotiations and cost reductions. Worked closely with outside
suppliers, sales, accounting, operations, and quality departments to
maximize communication and efficiencies. Taught Basics of Supply
Chain Management (an APICS course) company-wide to promote a better
understanding of these principles. Contact person for on-site
government auditors. Coordinated year-end inventory and worked
closely with Accounting to develop cycle-counting program that would
eliminate or reduce the need for annual physical inventory. Reported
to the VP of Operations. Left due to husband's relocation.
Supply Chain Manager, NOWDOCS, Memphis, TN. 2000 to 2001. A dot-com
company. Reported to the VP of Operations. Succumbed to the fate of
so many other dot-coms of that time.
Supply Chain Development & Integration Manager & Corporate Trainer, AC
HUMKO, Cordova, TN. 1998 to 2000. Corporate headquarters for a multi-
plant food manufacturer of cooking oil, coffee creamer and rice, among
others. Duties included analyzing Supply Chain practices and
developing new best practices. Corporate training involved bringing
new plant acquisitions onto the corporate ERP systems (MAPICS & JD
EDWARDS), as well as conducting APICS Supply Chain classes. Utilized
verbal and written presentations in group settings as well as one-on-
one; created an in-house training manual for satellite plants,
including step-by-step instructions, flow charts, screen prints, and
explanations of how the action affected other departments and areas of
the company. Played an integral role in developing a new corporate-
wide S&OP process. Required excellent project management and
oral/written communication skills, as well as a thorough understanding
of both strategic and tactical Supply Chain processes. Project
leadership team member for the sourcing, selection and implementation
of a new corporate APS system (a $6 million dollar project). Involved
mapping out communication flow between departments, and from customers
and vendors. Included developing weighted questions and conducting
extensive interviews with the final three potential vendors. Project
timeline to finalized selection was six months; one year for beginning
implementation. Reported to the Sr. VP of Operations. Company merged
with another and downsized corporate and my position was eliminated.
