Experience

Manufacturing Engineering Manager 2007 - present

Siemens Industrial : Manufacture of engineered-to-order heavy (10 -70 ton) Induction, AC Synchronous

and DC motors

* Scope of responsibilities included managing team of 4 Manufacturing Engineers and 2 technicians in

support of the production of engineered to order heavy (10 -70 ton) Induction, AC Synchronous and DC

motors. Managed annual operating budget of $500k and annual capital budgets of $500K.

* Achieved and consistently held operating costs below budget.

* Partnered with the Quality Manager to implement process controls for assembly and machining

operations that resulted in 20% reduction in rework and 15% increase in production efficiency.

* Reduced overtime costs by 10%, by streamlining processes and balancing the work force.

* Improved on-time shipment to customers from 93% to 97%, through a process of root cause analysis

and process improvement.

* Managed Implementation of the 5S program, leading the effort to organize the shop floor to increase

productivity. Examples include developing and documenting the process of disposition material and

equipment, organizing lifting equipment and tools, reconfiguring the factory layout for several work

centers

* Reduced the Cost Estimating process from 2-3 hours per negotiation to less than 30 minutes. This was

accomplished through meticulous analysis (using statistical methods) of the historical material and labor

costs for each component in the motors built over the last 12 years. By compiling historical data, along

with new quotes and information and then writing a sophisticated Excel VBA program, I enabled our

department to quickly auto-generate our costs.

Production Manager 2001 – 2007

Applied Materials (OEM of semi-conductor wafer fabrication equipment)

* Successfully led over a dozen new product factory integration projects, delivering production volumes of

complex electro-mechanical assemblies

* Led teams consisting of design engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and software stakeholders

with responsibility for resolving issues, driving projects to completion, and meeting release dates.

* Responsible for the completion of all deliverables (volume manufacturing integration plan, capacity plan,

tool requirements, clean BOM/drawing packages with assembly instructions) to internal customers on

new products being introduced to volume manufacturing - beginning with the release from design

engineering to the final pilot build.

* Managed internal and external customer expectations, communicated project status to management,

and served as focal point for communications between organizations during all phases of the project.

internal and external customers as well as reassessed and amended the scope of the work requirements,

budget, and timeline
