CAREER HISTORY
**** ** *******; CEO & founder, MetalForce Technologies, Concord Ohio.
Engineering, manufacturing, and sales of custom fluid power products for
the automotive and metalforming industries. Also engineering and consulting
services specializing in fluid power technologies.
2008 to 2009; Senior Product Design Engineer, Curtiss Wright Industries,
Sprague Products Div., Brecksville Ohio. Responsible for all engineering of
the mobile valve product line.
1984 to 1993; Chief Engineer, Teledyne Corporation Hyson Division,
Cleveland Ohio.
Manager of the Engineering Department for all R&D, New Product Design,
Sales Support, and manufacturing Engineering. Also acted as the Product
Manager, creating new product lines when and where I recognized sales
potential and customer needs. The end product was hydraulic and nitrogen
manifolds, nitrogen and hydraulic gas spring cylinders, stamping press
cushions, and controls for the automotive and metalforming industries.
1983 to 1984; Product Design Engineer, International Hydraulics, Mentor
Ohio.
Design of automated hydraulic drilling equipment, hydraulic machinery, and
systems.
1975 to 1983; Senior Product Design Engineer, Parker Hannifin Hydraflex
Division, Mentor Ohio. Manager of the Engineering Department, and seven
Designers. Responsible for the design of complete fluid power systems,
circuits, and valves, based on customer applications and specs. Traveled
extensively to sell and engineer our products, working with customers to
develop and/or improve their applications. The primary product line is
integrated hydraulic control valves and manifolds. Products were used in
the mobile industry, including highway, off-road, agricultural, and
military vehicles. Also many stationary industrial applications.
Management Experience; Over 25 years of Leadership and Management
experience, managing departments, projects, and budgets. Three times, I
started Engineering Departments, and created standards and procedures from
the ground floor.
Product Developments;
- Six patents, for nitrogen and hydraulic cylinders, lubrication
technology, and hydraulic systems.
- One patent for an automated hydraulic test stand device for valves.
- Two more patents pending for new metalforming technologies.
- Electro Proportional Flow Controls and Flow Divider Valves.
- A wide range of hydraulic cartridge and control valves, from simple low
cost, to sophisticated "load sensing" valves.
- A nitrogen gas "Quick-Disconnect" System which became the "Industry
Standard" by the international automotive and stamping industries.

Accomplishments at Teledyne Hyson
In 1984, created a new Engineering Department and Team. The following
functions were all implemented for the first time.
Management of Engineering Department
-Job Scheduling and targeting project completion dates.
-Budget of the Engineering Department costs and time.
-Written performance reviews and individual Employee Goals for improvement.
-Continuous training and cross-training for all Designers and Engineers.
Sales
-Provide direct Engineering and technical support to Sales and Marketing
efforts.
-Engineers now work with Representatives and Sales Engineers to call on
customers, learning their problems, needs, and product ideas.
-Designed the best selling nitrogen gas spring cylinder in Japan. They were
American made.
Marketing
-Bring Engineering into the field to determine new markets and
applications.
-Produce new product introduction, and training seminars for customers.
-Propose new products based on customer problems and perceived needs.
International
-Traveled to Japan for sales, service, and market research.
-Train all overseas distributors on products, applications and service.
-Handle all overseas correspondence regarding products and Engineering.
Safety and Product Liability
-Institute destructive and non-destructive testing.
-Introduce Product Safety Caution labeling.
-Certification of materials for critical components.
-Certification of design and materials, required for foreign sales.
-Continuous random testing of off-the-shelf product for safety and
performance.
Product Reliability
-Life cycle testing of off-the-shelf product.
-Improve manufacturing processes.
-Revise assembly techniques for cleanliness, increasing product
reliability.
-Vendor parts quality and inspection improvement.
-Evaluate products returned that failed to satisfy the customer's
performance requirements.
Career Highlights; In 1987, 88, and 89, Hyson was awarded "TOP TEN
DIVISION", and "TRIPLE CROWN" awards. Because of my contributions to
Teledyne in Management, Engineering, New Products, and Sales support, I
received an "Outstanding Individual Achievement" award.
