Epic and Ensemble DBA
I worked in implementing Epic in a multi hospital system. Modules
implemented were EpicCare, Cadence, and Prelude. Original duties were
full DBA responsibility for Epic implementation, began working with
Ensemble and Quadra Med product when another Epic person was found.
Duties included initial sizing of resources required for Epic to function
properly, training of in house staff to maintain and manage Epic properly,
creation of processes used to implement and
manage Epic, creation and enhancement of Epic captive logon scripts. Also
worked in areas of Epic/Cache security. I took a class in using the new
Cache Security practices.
Acted as DBA for Ensemble/Cache, as a part of my duties I created system
that monitored Cache and Ensemble using Cache functions and system values.
The system included email and pager alerts. The work included being the
Systems Administrator for eight instances of Ensemble. The
monitoring routines were particularly effective for the Ensemble instances.
Did small amount of development work with Ensemble, hope to do more.
Also worked to train inhouse people to assume DBA responsibilities for both
Epic and Ensemble. Used online Intersystems courses, training material I
created and a number of other tools to aid in this. Client will have
functioning self taught DBAs when I leave.

I worked in a number of areas as an Epic consultant; including helping one
hospital install Epic Spring2007, I worked in upgrading to Cache 5.22 and
upgrading to Epic Spring07, filled in for a vacationing administrator,

Contract Assignment with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Acted as Cache Systems manager for oldest pediatric hospital in America.
Worked in maintaining Cache databases, Epic Environments, and other
responsibilities of Epic DBA. Worked in implementing new Epic modules and
maintaining existing ones. Also maintained UNIX file
systems needed for Epic, maintained database maximum sizes, worked with
Clarity interfaces, worked on a close basis with user community and dealt
with issues that arose from that community. While there I wrote a captive
login system worked with Epic security to only allow users to access
