3.72 GPA
College Scholar 2007, Hagar Scholar 2008 (academic excellence in
engineering)
INTERNSHIPS
Maxima Technologies, East Petersburg, PA
Process Control Engineer Internship, May 2008- August 2008
. Completed time studies of different manufacturing processes and
provided average times of production steps to management.
. Performed work sampling to determine factors preventing manufacturing
line from meeting optimal production goals.
PennDOT, Harrisburg, PA
Internship in Cement Testing Section, May 2007- August 2007
. Mixed cement samples submitted from contractors and performed tests
for water percentages and hardness to determine effectiveness for use
in roads.
Internship in Petrography and Concrete Section, May 2006- August 2006
. Sampled rocks and tested them for slipperiness, durability, and
strength to determine applicability for use in roads.
ENGINEERING PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Sr. Project
Developed Arena Simulation Model for IIE 2009 National Competition
. Evaluated production operations, plant layout and manufacturing
process of simulated business. Used Arena to identify problem areas
that slowed production. Recommended changes to plant layout and
worker utilization resulting in about 600% increase in profits.
Current Industrial Engineering Methods
Applied lean concept to a clock factory simulation
. Participated in simulation of factory line with the goal of improving
production rate. Modified manufacturing line from a push system to a
pull system resulting in a reduction of work in process. Additionally
modified production layout and worker utilization.
Junior Design Class
Team project to redesign walker
. Evaluated potential problem areas and redesigned walker components to
increase user comfort and mobility.
Developed Arena Simulation Model for IIE 2008 National Competition
. Recommended changes to simulated evacuation procedures including
increase of temporary housing and streamlining of traffic flow,
enabling successful evacuation within time deadline.
Introduction to Engineering Class
Team project to design wheelchair ramp
. Discussed criteria with client, evaluated site location, determined
needed specifications and constructed ramp that met the client's
needs.
