SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS

1) Proudly devised techniques for exponentially speeding up data

transfers between servers, at Verizon Business, that would save about

80% of DBA effort & time taken in attempting to transfer data over

numerous hours, sometimes days.

2) Successfully developed a DBA transition toolkit to help structure any

DBA transition with comprehensive coverage of all possible topics of

importance. This would save almost 80-90% of time & effort spent in

planning of a DBA transition -Oct 2008.

3) Vigorously led a 41 people strong DBA team, as the DBA lead,

transition lead, DBA release manager & mentor, at Level3. We

transitioned about 5000 databases (70% Oracle, 10% Sybase, 20% MSSQL

server) from existing DBA's. I received numerous appreciations during

this period. Transition helped the company save about 300 million USD

annually - May 2008 to Nov 2008.

4) Got trained from ESRI in ArcGIS / ArcSDE Geodatabase administration &

then trained others - Aug 2008.

5) Assertively led the L2 team of DBA's, as the lead Application DBA

responsible for about 600 application databases, at Pfizer, New York.

This project involved coordination between L2 DBA's and the customer

side managers, Application development & maintenance teams,

engineering team - Mar 2007 to May 2008.

6) Proudly led the L3 team of DBA's while working with them & providing

guidance at every step, for performance issues & problem management

May 2005 to Mar 2007.

7) Successfully led the DST (Daylight Savings Time) patching project for

almost 500 Oracle databases spread over 150 servers (95% Unix, 5%

Windows) at Pfizer, and achieved the target on time. This project

saved the company about 50,000 USD - Jan 2006 - Feb 2006.

8) Aggressively Headed and completed transition, knowledge base creation,

support and transition of more than 250 Oracle Database setups & 150

Applications against tight deadlines for Pfizer, at New York (USA).

This helped the company save about 400,000 USD a month - Aug 2005 to

Mar 2006.

9) Proposed, designed, base-lined the SOP's (Statement of Procedure) for

DBA team's activities and qualification documents for Oracle 10GR2

installation, operation and performance. This now helps save the

company about 5000 USD a month - Aug 2006 to Nov 2006.

10) Continued to successfully lead Application & Oracle database

transition teams at Pfizer, to achieve targets in time, ensuring

business continuity as well. This helps the company save an average of

25000 USD per Application.

11) Successfully completed ITIL Foundation certification, with 97% score

(one of the highest scores yet). With this knowledge, I add value by

aligning the team's operations closer to the ITIL directives - Dec

2006. Got trained on awareness & applications of Code of Federal

Regulations (21 CFR), Part 11, GCP guidelines - June 2005

12) Headed "SOX compliance" project, for IKON, at Malvern PA (USA). This

helped the company get rid of many database security issues uncovered

during the process - Jan 2005.

13) Extensively researched usage & applications of Oracle's RMAN (Recovery

Manager), contributed research documents, held KT sessions for team

members, and established backup plan for databases. This helped the

company save about 2500 USD a month - Jan 2007.

14) Successfully handled Oracle Parallel Server setup migration from

Oracle 8.1.7.2 to 8.1.7.4 for IKON and devised process improvements.

This saved the company from a loss of about 60,000 USD overall - Dec

2004.

15) Publications on Knowledge shop : Oracle database tuning through

partitioning & indexes, Oracle database migration, Understanding RMAN,

setup for Oracle, Understanding Oracle Applications (writing). My

publications help many other projects save about 40 hours of research

per month.

16) Administered a 5 months long migration & upgrade of Oracle databases,

Oracle applications 10 / 11i / R12, Oracle web servers, EDI adapters

(Oracle Application Interconnect) for the project IKON. - Jan-Apr

2004.

17) Successfully completed 2nd project of Competent Toastmaster track, in

Toastmasters' Club, Bangalore, India. This helped me improve my

communication skills to a great extent - Dec 2003.

18) Conducted internal audit in my company for adherence to ISO 14001

(International Standards for Environmental Policy) & delivered

seminars, to fellow Infoscions. This helped spread awareness about

importance of this certification - Apr 2004.

19) Successfully handled the position of Technical Seminars Manager along

with the job of Lecturer in Computer Science department, at RKDF

Engineering College, Bhopal (M.P.), India.

20) Received appreciation from the IKON, Pfizer, Level3 & Verizon managers

& colleagues for quality & positive attitude towards work.

21) Got certified in auditing for BS 14001, Environmental policy

enforcement - May 2004.
