Sunland Group, Houston, Texas (2003 - Present)
IT Manager
. Developed and maintained a project management application that allows
managers to control their projects from proposal through the close
project stage. Created new procedures and reports that reduce time
wasted and facilitated project management as well as eliminated data
entry time when he created an interface to transfer the timesheets,
invoices and aging information between accounting system and this new
project management application.
. When Houston former Mayor White open the city for Katrina evacuees,
Sunland was called to provide inspection services only; under my
initiative an application was developed to allow the City of Houston
and Sunland to track the information and location of each evacuee;
after a couple of months and thanks to this application; Sunland was
pointed as the company on charge of the JHHTF program, this allowed
the company to grow from 50 to 250 employees in addition to more than
200 subcontractors, increasing the scope of this project and their
revenue. Former Mayor Bill White gave me a personal recognition for my
services to the Joint Hurricane Housing Task force (JHHTF) at the end
of this project.
. Value engineer team member for METRO Light Rail University Corridor
study that reported potential savings for more than $186 million
dollars through more than 20 value engineering proposals.
. Designed, developed and implemented a Document Control web application
that allows to manage the documentation and managing data on a
preliminary engineering and design program for the renovations of
Terminals A, B, C and E for DFW International Airport.
. Eliminated long distant calls between Sunland Offices using Asterisk
based PBX's, with the creation of an unify voice attendant system that
help Sunland clients to reach anyone on the phone system does it
matter their location or where the call was originated.
. Reengineered a MS/DOS Cost estimate application, creating a new
windows base application that allows managing more than 16,000 typical
construction items to create construction estimates.
Xenco Laboratories, Houston, TX (2001 - 2003)
Senior Analyst
. Expanded and grew a Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
application created in house at this environmental lab; the additional
modules created under my initiative, input and reengineering on others
modules helps Xenco to sold licenses of this application to more
environmental laboratories through the country.

Some of the budget savings and innovations provided to this financial
institution were:
. Migrated the Home Banking Program "OCCIRED" that was created to work
on MS/DOS to a MS Windows version using Visual C++.
. Created a new option on the branches system that help to setup
payments collection for private entities with a module that configure
the information requested for these entities on a timely manner.
. Lead the transition from a payroll system to a new enterprise human
resource system that helps the entire division to manage the
information of the employees on a different level.
. Developed an application that allow to migrate the transactional
information from a mainframe system (Cobol/RPG II) to a new Oracle
distributed database system using several tools as PL/SQL, Pro*C,
SQL*Loader and C++.
. Volunteered to develop the second phase of the Foreign Trade system
helping the bank to save several thousand of dollars eliminating
outsourcing.
