Hands on, goal oriented and driven professional seeks a rewarding and
challenging position with a growing company that can best utilize my prior
experience and background. Experience includes performing a key planning
role for growing a start up company from $1.4 million in revenue to over
$37 million in revenue, leading to public incorporation in 4 years.
Additional experience includes setting vendor procedures and maintaining
product cost while achieving corporate goals.
Personal computing literacy includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and
Projects. Mainframe database proficiencies include JD Edwards, MAPICS,
BPCS, AS400 and Ask Manman. Operational experience includes Kan ban, Lean
manufacturing principles and Just in Time inventory standards.
EMPLOYMENT SUMMARY
DESA Specialty Products (2002 - November 2008)
Senior Buyer - The Power Tools division is one of 4 divisions within DESA
and has an annual spend of roughly $75 million. Experience includes the
sourcing of new suppliers in both China and Taiwan while working through
two trading companies. Implemented procurement strategies leading to new
products for the division. Cross functional team meetings are conducted
regularly to track progress of new product development programs.
Commodities purchased abroad include batteries, fabricated steel
components, and buy complete blowers, hedge trimmers, string trimmers and
chain saws. Domestic supplier experience includes powder actuated tool
product and portable generators. Visited and conducted alternator business
at plants in France and the Czech Republic. General procurement
responsibilities include maintaining supplier relations, setting product
cost, negotiating and reporting cost savings monthly, plus inventory
management control at DESA off site warehouses in Manchester, Tennessee.
DESA ceased operations in January, 2009.
Holley Performance Products (1998 - 2002)
Buyer - Responsible for vendor selection and negotiation, including
pricing and terms, inventory management and monthly budget control for two
business unit groups within Holley. Traffic management and responsibility
control for 10 suppliers in the Los Angeles area delivering products on a
weekly truck run to Bowling Green, Kentucky. Cost savings and supplier
consolidation are two of our key measurement goals. Operations run on a
monthly material budget goal with daily tracking and accountability
supporting the production build schedule. Commodity control includes raw
materials acquisitions of cold rolled strip, brass and aluminum used to
support in house screw machining and stamping activities. Major component
parts acquisitioned included gears, shafts and die castings (sand and
aluminum, plus permanent mold). Total acquisition responsibility for over
6,000 parts. Product activities support superchargers, carburetors, fuel
pump and water pump assembly operations. Supervised three direct employees
includes two component releasers and one machining scheduler.
Prescolite Moldcast Lighting (1996-1998)
Master Scheduler - Responsible for scheduling all activities in our
reflector plant division. One of four plants within the El Dorado
industrial park. Planning accomplished within an MRP framework and
acquisition all raw materials for needed for production activities. Work
centers scheduled including reflector spinning, buffing, punch pressing
and anodizing. While there production was increased from 2,500 to nearly
4,000 per day. Accomplished this by increasing efficiency in punch press
activities (more off line air fixtures) and integration of two automated
spinning machines. Had three direct employees including two schedulers and
one manufacturing support person. Left to re-join the new Chief Operating
Officer at Holley.
Sunbeam-Oster Household Products (1995-1996)
Senior Planner - Responsible for manufacturing activities located in
Matamoras and Acuna, Mexico as well as Coushatta, Louisiana. Products
produced included irons, blenders, mixers and bedding products. Production
plans originated in Laurel, Ms. through JD Edwards software and
implemented through monthly visits to each plant. Plans discussed one
month in advance. Also had to attend corporate planning strategy meeting
once each month in Chicago. Sunbeam was in process of integrating various
operations located throughout the South into a new million square foot
facility in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Had two direct planners reporting to
me.
Work experience prior to 1995 was all in California including:
Production Control Manager for APS Systems (two years), an electric
transit vehicle manufacturer located in Oxnard. Staff of seven directs
including planning, purchasing and shipping/receiving activities.
Planner at Vitesse Semiconductor in Camarillo (five years), a manufacturer
of gallium arsenide semiconductors which grew from 40 employees to over
320 in four years leading to public incorporation.
Planner at Burroughs (Unisys) in Westlake Village (seven years), a
manufacturer of disk drives for the computer industry. Scheduled various
production activities and worked on Special Project team responsible for
moving cable and harness assembly operations to Mexico. The Westlake plant
was closed in 1985.
