EXPERIENCE
Mechanical Engineer, Service Machines Incorporated
Culver City, CA April 2010 - Present
. Produce research and draft design concepts for a new type of solar
energy project for today's market by looking at the competition and
finding ways to refine the type of technology at a more effective and
cheaper cost.
. Responsible for designing various components of the new solar energy
design including the collector, the stand, and the Stirling engine
using engineering calculations and SolidWorks.
. Use CNC and other shop equipment to create and test the new designed
components and assess their effectiveness.
Mechanical and Civil Field Engineer, Kiewit Pacific- San Vicente Pumping
Facilities, Lakeside, CA July 2008 - July 2009
. Produced extensive work plans detailing the procedure of the operation
including the number of laborers, equipment, timeline, budget, control
points, safety hazards and engineering analysis of the work using
AutoCad, Terra Model and owner's plan files.
. Created computer designs of pipe layouts, structures, vaults, conduits
and roads using AutoCAD and Terra Model
. Managed a crew of 15 laborers and operators at least six weeks in
advance.
. Ordered materials, produced work plans, completed engineering
analyses, met with the owner regarding issues or concerns and
maintained the budget to ensure profitability on every operation.
Designer/Materials Eng, Shiley Eye Center - Corneal Tensile Strength of
the Cornea, La Jolla, CA January 2008 - July 2008
. Designed and fabricated a device for renowned LASIK surgeon Dr. David
J. Shanzlin. This device consisted of a pressure transducer and a
laser micrometer and is designed to test the cornea under different
pressure loads.
. Programmed the pressure transducer and laser micrometer with LabView,
allowing the user to enter a pressure, varying frequency speed
(Hertz), and total running time to generate a real time graphical
analysis that would then be recorded onto an Excel file.
. By reviewing this information, Dr. Shanzlin and his research team aim
to discover the elastic properties of the cornea that will allow him
to provide a more precise cut during a LASIK surgery procedure.
Fabricator/Designer, MAE Department, University of California, San Diego,
La Jolla, CA September 2007 - March 2008
. Using phototransistors, microcontrollers, actuators, and various other
electrical components, our team designed and built a robot that sensed
different colored blocks and drew an outline of them with their
respective colors.
. The final robot was achieved through extensive metal and plastic
fabrication, LaserCamm, and engineering analysis.
. This course included extensive machine shop usage and understanding of
various metal/plastic forming and shaping equipment.
