Extensive experience with Intravenous Catheters, Nasal
Gastric Tubes, and Chest Tubes. Additional I have
experience with heart patients and some limited experience
with telemetry. I have also worked with teaching diabetic
patients about proper diet and injection of insulin. I am
knowledgeable in the use of heparin and insulin, and
dopamine drips. Proper care and use of PCA machines for
pain control and administration of iv push meds. I work
with cardiac patients, patients requiring trachea care
suctioning etc., surgical patients with heart caths,
abdominal surgeries, both vaginal and abdominal
hysterectomies, thyroidectomies, eye surgery such as
scleral buckles and victorectomies. I have dealt with
patients that require feeding tubes such
as PEG and G Tubes. While working in the Med Sur
Department at Spectrum I have dealt with patients ranging
in age from 18 years old to 90 plus years old. I have also
worked with OB patients with problems ranging from
hyperemesis to pregnant women with gestational diabetes.
While working on the floor I have obtained a great deal of
experience in working with blood products.
I have also been the Charge Nurse for a 32 bed unit. The
Charge Nurse duties involve delegation of new
admissions, communications with CNA (Clinical
Nursing Administrator ) concerning the floors staffing
needs, patient assignments for on coming shifts,
handling patient problem resolutions, and handling
any emergency that come up during the shift.
