as a part of Kaizen

Involved in developing the standards and analysis of material flow in the plant.

WABCO TVS, Chennai -India (Production Engineer intern)

(April 2005- August 2005)

Involved in analyzing the operations of the cells in the shop floor to evaluate the OEE of

the plant for the purpose of benchmarking

Assisted in the forecasting the demand of the products and development of the

production schedule for the cells.

Lakshmi Machine Works, Coimbatore-India (Summer Manufacturing intern)

(May 2004-July 2004)

Involved in the implementation of 5S and Total Productive Maintenance Techniques in

the production line.

Assisted in the creation of control charts in order to assess the quality of parts

manufactured in the shop floor for evaluation in PPAP.

PROJECTS:

PRODUCTION PLANNING OF A SIMULATED MANUFACTURING SHOP FLOOR

Developed a Decision Support System for a two product production line using Material

Requirement Planning (MRP) and Capacity Requirement Planning (CRP) modules

in MS Excel Solver.

OPTIMIZATION OF A FOOD COURT BY SIMULATION

Real time was collected from a fast food restaurant and its operations were simulated

using ARENA

Several design modifications were incorporated and their results were analyzed.

LEAN THINKING OF AN ORIGAMI PRODUCTION LINE.

Applied lean manufacturing tools like root cause analysis, Kanban, value stream

mapping, 5S, SMED and single piece flow to the origami production line.

There was an improvement of nearly 100% in the production line.

DEVELOPMENT OF A MULTIPLE LINEAR REGRESSION MODEL

A multiple linear regression model was developed using MINITAB and ANOVA

was conducted on the given data.

Significant variables were identified and their effect on the output variable was estimated

using step-wise regression.

The presence of outliers was checked by using residual plots.

APPLICATION OF ROBUST DESIGN CONCEPTS TO A BALL LAUNCHER

Robust design tools and concepts were applied to the design of a ball launcher to improve

its precision and accuracy.

The significant control and noise factors were recognized and their levels were identified

with Analysis of Mean (ANOM) and interaction plots from Minitab.

ENHANCEMENT OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT OF A SIMULATED FACTORY

Bullwhip effects on supply chains were demonstrated by the use of the Beer Game

model wherein the planning, inventory, strategy and the operations phases of the supply

chain were influenced.

SCHEDULING OF A LOGISTICS/DISTIBUTION SYSTEM

The route of a system was optimized taking into account the cost/distance constraints in

conjunction with the priority objectives using Operations Research Techniques

Excel Solver was utilized to arrive at the optimal solution.

DESIGN OF DIE FOR THE MANUFACTURING OF A DOOR LOCK PLATE

A die was designed such that it carries out bending, blanking and stamping operations

using Mechanical Desktop.

The design was optimized in order to reduce wastage of material, stages of operations

and dimensional accuracy.

DESIGN OF A HYDRO-PNEUMATIC FLUID POWER CIRCUIT

A fluid power circuit was designed for automating the milling operation of a milling

machine.

Automation Studio was used for simulating the fluid power circuit.
