years design/develop/test/onsite hands on experience.

EXPERIENCE

* November 2009 - May 2010 - Industrial team leader, Elkhart Brass Mfg.

Co., Elkhart, IN

. Lead a group of three design engineers and designers. Supervise the

group to complete system projects in line with company's policy.

Design and develop different fire systems involving fire monitors

(made in house, OEM) and electrical panels / remote panels / handheld

remotes and so on for hazardous environments (Class 1, Div- 2) meeting

standards such as NEMA, UL, FM and IEC. (Projects range from 50k to

500k). Budgeting and scheduling the project from start to finish.

Develop project schedule taking into account resource/man hours

required along with project costs associated to finish the project.

Interact frequently Regional Sales Managers. Update Director of

Engineering and VP marketing on project status. Provide technical

support to installed projects across the world. Understand local

requirements globally (Europe, Middle East, South America and more)

and provide direction on projects.

. Co-ordinate and Work closely with UL testing agency/inspector to meet

compliance on different electro mechanical products such as control

relays and other products such as synchronous motors, temperature

testing of assembled control products, flow testing of nozzles etc.

Read and implement UL standards such as UL 508, UL 1604, UL 1203 and

so on. Create technical construction file for compliance with IEC

standards and 3rd party approvals.

. Develop and implement test procedures for industrial controls and

analyze different safety zone requirements. Record and compile results

from different tests such as drop tests, safety compliance test and so

on. Indulge in UL audits. Interact with FM approval agency to get

monitor approvals. Maintain and record all applicable standards and

communication with FM and perform the required tests in-house. Record

and get re-approval on product design changes. Document ECN's and

resubmit for approval.

* January 2007 - November 2009 - Product Engr, Elkhart Brass Mfg. Co.,

Elkhart, IN

. Work with hydraulic systems. Design/trouble shoot closed loop

hydraulic systems. Work with shop floor and other manufacturing

process such as machining and molding, casting etc. Implement mold

changes into production for material cost savings (sand molding).

Dealt with hard coating, corrosion resistant materials and other

processes/tests. Extensive use of IDEAS solid modeling package.

Implement ECNs and train assembly operators for test runs. Create

fabrication dwgs using GD&T principles. Plot flow curves by field

testing of monitor/nozzles.

. Design and develop test fixtures for testing of nozzles, destructive

failure analysis of gear teeth and so on. Modified tooling of fixtures

used for hydraulic pressure testing of valves etc.

. Worked as a member of team developing new monitor product. Implemented

initial drive mechanism idea using rapid prototyping working models.

Developed gear teeth mechanism was put through fatigue testing,

production model was implemented and later put into production.

Different tests were done to insure the mechanical integrity of parts.

Taken the project from concept, implementation, testing to final

production.

. Developed new monitor positioning system. Introduced new technologies

such as wireless, different communication protocols and HMI products.

Recommend equipment and methods to sales on different projects.

Perform CFD analysis for high pressure navy nozzles/monitors.

. Generate electrical circuit schematics with phase shift networks for

AC motor operation. Read and develop different industrial controls

schematics using push buttons, PLCS and more. Fabrication and in-house

testing of systems. Worked closely with different panel shops and fab

shops. Work closely with vendors, customers, cross-depts and

suppliers.

* July 2006 - July 2007 - Site/Field Engineer, Elkhart Brass Mfg. Co.,

Elkhart, IN

. Travel local and international for onsite installation and trouble

shooting of fire monitor systems. Trouble shooting onsite

installations. Avoid any EMI and other possible installation causes.

. Perform onsite PLC programming and implement customer change requests.

. PLC/Touch screen programming using ladder logic for electrical

systems. Worked on all different Automation products and name brands

such as AB, EATON and more.

. Perform wiring installations at customer sites as needed. Ability to

climb 20 ft towers and more. Wear cover alls for hazardous

installation sites.

* June 2004 - July 2006 - Sr. Project Engineer, WHIRLPOOL, Inc.

. Design of different agitators for different wash systems. Taken the

project from concept till final production through various stages.

Involve closely with new product development interacting with global

teams. Design different test fixtures for conducting DOE on different

agitator designs.

. Implemented fish tail type design in Indian production markets. Work

across global teams involving tele-conferences at night and in

different time zones.

. Analysis of data from DOE to improve the efficiency of different wash

systems

. Use of OPEX tools such as six sigma, robust design, FMEA and more for

customer focus.

. Use solid modeling software (PRO-E/ IDEAS) to develop different

surface profiles for agitators. Work with different instrumentation

for measuring and analysis such as CMM machine, Fluke Multi meters,

Calipers, and so on. Applied GD&T to develop production tests models.

. Knowledge of injection molding. Know how of different plastics

materials such as PP, Polyethylene and so on. Theory study of

different wash systems and cycles.

. Onsite customer visits to monitor washer problems. Ensure customer

satisfaction by trouble shooting, installed in-house washer issues.

Perform root cause analysis to provide customer satisfaction.

Implement the product in market to achieve the goals such as Brazil,

India and so on. Perform FEA (ANSYS) and other analysis to better

understand the design and modify areas of concern or redesign. Use

theory, implement theory to practice and modify design to achieve

results to be put in production. Set up the test stand with

instrumentation for recording different parameters like torque, speed

and so on. Calibrate motors for performance curves.

. Prototyped and tested many different concepts. PLC programming using

ladder logic diagram for washer control using ALLEN-BRADLEY plcs.

Endurance testing of agitators/components using T-specs. Use of

different data acquisition and analysis software such as Labview, JMP

and so on.

. Hold bunch of Intellectual idea numbers. Forms were submitted to the

patent dept to approve.

. Hold 1 patent on antibacterial chemical approach to avoid mold growth.

* August 2002 - 2004 - Design Engineer / Project Manager, AVANTech, Inc.

. Design of waste treatment skids for nuclear and other waste treatment

applications.

. Test different instrumentation implemented such as flow meters, gauges

etc.

. Develop quality and test procedures to inspect the final product (test

pressure, pseudo waste mix simulation and so on). Draw P&ID diagrams

and perform pressure and flow analysis at different points. Develop

project maps including Technical design reviews, Milestones and more

(projects range from 35k to 300k). Project management course taken to

manage different projects.

. Lead a group of 4 designers and checkers in the modeling and design

area.

. Extensive use of CAD (PRO-E/PRO-PIPING) software to design, model and

produce fabrication dwgs. Manage documents in accordance with

company's control procedures (ECN's and more). Total PRO-E use exceeds

4000 hrs. Field testing and hydraulic testing of skids upto 225 psi

. Apply GD&T principles to develop fabrication drawings. Design of

pressure vessels using ASME VIII. Field testing for performance

analysis of different systems like Ultrex etc.

. Work closely/hands on with fabrication shops to have the piping skids,

pressure vessels and other skids manufactured. Worked closely in the

metal fabrication using sheet metal, S.S. piping, sq. tubing, welding

and more.

* May 2001 - August 2001 - Assistant Project Engineer- Spirax Sarco

( Worked as an intern in the manufacturing and engineering department;

this work involved designing various fixtures for different purposes.

( As a part of the engineering team, worked with project engineers to

develop test rigs for pumps and other equipment; this work also

involved constant interaction with the industrial engineering group to

manufacture fixture for CNC machines.

. Performed several DFM analysis Spirax Sarco uses the Kanban System for

inventory control.
