EDUCATION

MS Electrical Engineering, GPA: 3.63 (Jan

2003 - Aug 2005)

University of Alaska Fairbanks, Alaska.

Bachelor in Technology, Electrical & Electronics Engineering,

(June 1998 - June 2002) JNT University, India.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

CAD Layout Design Engineer,

(Aug 2005 - Present)

UAF Office of Electronic Miniaturization, Fairbanks, AK

Designed DDR2 SDRAM and SRAM memory modules using CDS, Cadence APD and

AutoCAD for research and analysis of chip scale packaging. Responsible for

designing, testing and prototyping wireless intruder motion detection

system using Cadence Concept HDL and Allegro and simulated using PSPICE.

Created various PCB layouts using Cadence Allegro, ORCAD and PADS. Designed

and simulated spiral inductor using Agilent ADS layout editor and analyzed

it using the ADS electromagnetic simulation program "Momentum".

Worked in the class 100 clean room for the Office of Electronic

Miniaturization at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, which is largest

research center for development and production in the areas of

microelectronics, chip scale packaging and photonics in the state of

Alaska.

. Designed PCB's, memory modules and digital design using various CAD

tools. Designed photo-masks for in-house fabrication of CSP

substrates and CSP tooling in AutoCAD.

. Developed process techniques including but not limited to spin-coat

processing for negative and positive photoresist, dry-etching, wet-

etching and PVD.

. Manufactured and integrated top-emitting OLED and waveguide on PCB

substrate.

. Provided training on CSP designing and Cadence design tools for

circuit designers at UAF.

. Generated technical documents and delivered presentations to upper

management and government officials on the project status.

Research Assistant, Electrical Engineering,

(June 2003 - Aug 2005)

University of Alaska Fairbanks, AK

. Thesis Title: Layout and Fabrication Process from Generic to High Speed

Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)

Codified the design process for Printed Circuit Board from schematic

capture to PCB layout using Cadence software for ECE department. Generated

documentation folders, part development and schematic using Concept HDL for

radar controller and MSS power supply board. Created board layout and part

footprints for MSS power supply board using Cadence Allegro. Investigated

use of Cadence SPECCTRAQuest for simulation and timing analysis of High

Speed Printed Circuit Boards including development of IBIS models. Designed

and fabricated PCB's to illustrate high frequency effects on digital

transmission lines using Agilent ADS.

Academic projects

. Title: Microwave communication system.

Designed a communication system that includes microwave amplifier,

oscillator and mixer designs.

. Title: High frequency noise reduction from a HEX plasma probe data.

Designed a filter using MATLAB to remove high frequency noise from the

HEX Plasma probe data. Filtered the large amount of data to 400 seconds.

. Title: Motor speed controller.

Designed a motor speed controller based on PID control system logic.

Simulated the PID controller parameters using MATLAB/Simulink to obtain

stability in the closed-loop feedback system.

1 Undergraduate Research Project, JNT University, Hyderabad, India

Application of neural networks in short term load forecasting. It includes

the study of various methods of short-term load forecasting and hourly load

is forecasted using a new technique i.e., artificial neural networks and

compared the results with actual load data collected from the A.P. State

Electricity Board, India.

PUBLICATIONS

. Haichuan Mu, Indrani Reddy, John Hunt, Phillip Severs and Shirish

Patil, Fabrication and optical modulation of top emitting yellow light

PLEDs on the FR4 board, sent to Thin Solid Films for publication.

. Haichuan Mu, Indrani Reddy, John Hunt, Phillip Severs and Shirish Patil,

Electron Mobility Characterization in OLEDs from AC Small Signal Optical

Modulation, accepted by Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics for

publication.

ACHEIVEMENTS:

. Received a letter of appreciation from Vice Provost for Research, Center

for Nanosensor Technology, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
