Shift Supervisor / Assistant Table Head - Hella New Zealand
Hella New Zealand designs and manufactures automotive lighting
products that use the latest LED technology. Part of the Hella Asia
Pacific Group, Hella NZ supplies automotive manufacturers and
commercial transport fleets all over the world, with over 80% of its
output for export.
Responsible for a team of up to ten regular staff, plus casual workers
as required, on the night shift. Supervised assembly of LED lamps,
including soldering, assembly, gluing, testing, packaging, dispatch
and documentation.
Also acted as the Table Head responsible for all production on the
night shift when the regular manager was away. In the last twelve
months, this typically was two weeks per month. Oversaw

10-15 staff involved in moulding and assembly across a range of
product lines.
. Despite many offers of advancement from Hella, remained on the night
shift for ten years to fulfill family commitments
. Achieved all targets for quality and quantity, with many shifts
passing with zero errors, and a long run error rate of less than 5 in
10,000 for the team. Picked up errors early by keeping close watch on
individual parts and people
. Persuaded staff to become multi-skilled in the different functions on
the production line. With high staff turnover and absenteeism on the
night shift, this meant maximum flexibility at reconfiguring teams at
short notice
. Trained new staff and helped them integrate into the team. Motivated

. Also encouraged staff to learn new ways to complete tasks and pass on
