Third-largest retail supercenter operator in the United States (130+ stores
ranging from 130,000 to 200,000 sq. ft., carrying more than 225,000
national brand food, apparel, and general merchandise products), now a
subsidiary of The Kroger Company.
Store Director, Burien, Mill Creek, and Everett, WA locations (1989 to
2003)
Total P&L responsibility for store operations at multiple, high-volume
locations, including division goals for sales, cost control, and
inventory control; facilities management; and compliance with
corporate policies, procedures, and service standards. Sourced and
managed vendors for facilities maintenance and repair. In charge of
regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal agencies (OSHA,
WISHA, health, weights & measures regulations).
Trained, developed, and supervised 28 department managers, 7 major
department managers, and 12 section managers. Monitored scheduling,
labor costs, and performance for 175+ employees. Oversaw personnel

Alaska, and Portland, OR markets. Oversaw district buying as well as
store operations. In charge of recruiting and training managers,
defining policies and procedures, and both immediate and long-term
business development for photoelectronics division.
o Started and developed new, stand-alone retail division for Fred
Meyer stores. Grew division from startup to $24-58M in annual
revenues and greatest profitability in company. Led new division to
breakeven and profitability in less than 2 years.
o Created 35,000 sq. ft. departments at 32 locations, introducing
photo development services and sales of computers, home theater
