OBJECTIVE
Seeking a full time position in mechanical engineering with primary focus on materials and packaging.
TECHNICAL SUMMARY
• Experienced in design and testing of thermal conductivity measurement system for composites and carbon
nanotubes.
• Experienced in mechanical property characterization including Young’s modulus, flexural strength, Poisson’s ratio .
• 2 years research experience in carbon fiber and glass fiber vacuum bagging layup techniques.
• Experienced with thermal and thermo-mechanical analysis methods including TGA, DSC and DMA.
• Strong understanding of fiber reinforcement orientation codes for composites.
• 2nd place in paper presentation at Society for Advancement of Process and Material Engineering, Midwest region.
WORK EXPERIENCE & PROJECTS
• Research Assistant, University of Cincinnati (Mar 2009 - Aug 2009)
Manufactured nanocomposites using compression molding machine and carbon nanotubes using CVD.
Examined the effect of density, interface and height on the thermal conductivity of tall CNTs. The conductivity
improved with increase in height and density and with laser deposited copper interface.
Improved thermal conductivity of fiber reinforced polymeric composites by 226% using CNTs. Taller CNT arrays as
reinforcement provided better heat conduction.
• Analysis of composite sandwich panels using Ansys (Mar 2008 - Jun 2008)
Tensile and compression stresses are supported by the skins, while the shearing stress is supported by the
honeycomb. The honeycomb structure possesses good rigidity in several directions.
A bulletproof vest was manufactured by a team of undergraduates based on these results.
• Finite Element Analysis of a fin using Ansys (Jan 2008 - Mar
2008)
Analyzed heat transfer of a fin for a transient thermal response. Effects of material and number of fins affecting heat
transfer were studied.
• Student Intern, Lucas TVS (Jan 2007 - Feb 2007)
25,000-workforce Indian company is a leading manufacturer of automotive electrical systems and components.
Led a project team to design a pneumatic machine with a PLC controller to save cost due to manual operated spool
machine, which was used in starter motors. Improved efficiency and accuracy; saved labor cost by 30%.
• Student Intern, TVS Sundaram Clayton Limited (May 2005 - Jun 2005)
Subsidiary of Lucas TVS manufactures aluminium pressure die castings for automobiles.
Role involved examining air and vacuum brakes for fatigue failure and evaluating new products from suppliers.
SKILLS
• Engineering Applications: Ansys, SolidWorks, AutoCad, Pro-E, Matlab, C
• Office Suites: MS Office, MS Project, Windows
• Lab Equipment – TGA, DSC, Dynamic Testing System, DMA, CVD, Press mold
