Developed and facilitated improvement of materials methods by upgrading
processes to track waste. By enhancing the production flow of materials, we
reduced the pounds of net waste by 23%, saving facility more than $25,000
in only 6 months. I was also instrumental in the reduction of facility

Supervisor - Manufacturing/Production & Planning/Industrial engineering
(union facility)
Carrier Corporation, Collierville, TN, 2006 - 2007
While at Carrier, I worked diligently to improve the employee, supervisor,
and union relationship. As a result, my department experienced the highest
attendance, a 100% efficiency level, and improved quality rating while
having no employee grievances. To achieve this, I routinely insisted on
union officials to attend my meetings as I kept them abreast of developing
conditions. All employees were cross trained as I empowered/required my
direct reports to perform their duties with professionalism. Known as a
respected manager, I was asked to overhaul 2 other departments during my
1.5 yrs of service. Rolled out a supply budget and supply usage procedure
to all section leads resulting a sustained $1000 savings per month. Also, I
completed two lean projects; the first resulted in the reduction of
manpower in a cellular manufacturing assembly line and the second was a
kaizen to incorporate 5's methods. Had no departmental lost time injuries
(in compliance with EH & S policy).
. Trained and directed 73 employees to meet schedule attainment and
production goals.
. Assisted in developing plant Standard Operating Procedures, Operation
Conditions, and maintaining certifications for ISO (14001 & 9001).
. Improved any ergonomic issues to improve workflow and mitigate injury
risks.
. Used Six Sigma management methodologies (ACE, 5S, Metrics, Flow
charts, C.A.R. reports, Root cause analysis, etc as an operations
tool.
. Evaluated all shift employees daily using proper counseling techniques
to reduce complaints and prevent grievances; disciplines as needed in
a fair and consistent manner.
. Maintained an effective union relationship to ensure company and
employee needs were met.
Warehouse Operations Supervisor- Distribution (non- union facility)
Volvo Parts North America, Memphis, TN, 1996 - 2005
In this operations position I directed a facility of 45 employees in a
budget savings of 5% (across the board) for 3 consecutive years. I achieved
the budget savings by attaining a 5% improvement in the area of continuous
improvements of processes, performing root cause analysis, and implementing
corrective actions for all areas of non-conformity. Next, by creating an
annual prospectus, I successfully acquired capitol for facility
improvements and machine purchases according to a depreciation schedule.
Also, as a member of the national quality team, I lead the Memphis facility
to an ISO certification (14001 & 9001) in 2001 and four years of
recertification. As a consequence, I wrote both manuals and was the
responsible party in external audits.
. Oversaw warehouse / distribution engineering functions with 45
employees, receiving an estimated $250K in truck parts, buses,
industrial power systems, and construction equipment daily.
. Supervised a staff of 45 providing training in OSHA regulations,
process management, ISO 9001 / 14001, and Swiss, a truck parts
inventory management system.
. Controlled $2M in annual capital and a $3M operating budget generating
reports regarding variances, financial, supply chain, transportation,
warehouse capacity analysis, delivery, and routing status.
. Managed the supply chain through internal and external stakeholders.
. Lead various successful lean projects such as; facility audits,
installing 5s principles, new employee training for merging companies,
environmental impact studies, and developing a hazardous material
program.
. Lead shift supervisors by using KPI monitoring as the chief operating
tool.
