VP and Chief Tax Officer

Oversaw all corporate tax compliance, accounting, and planning for federal

and state income/franchise taxes, sales & use taxes, property taxes, FAS

109, and mergers & acquisitions. Provided audit defense support, ensured

accuracy of all returns, performed tax due diligence, and worked tirelessly

to reduce corporate tax liabilities and system inefficiencies.

. Assembled a core group of tax professionals to lead new software and

tax compliance innovations, transforming a previously lackluster

department into one consisting of certified tax experts with advanced

tax degrees. Further enhanced interdepartmental cooperation through

working relationships with key accounting, legal, and operational

calculated in less than an hour what the original system could not

. Mapped an automated bridge from Oracle accounting software to

OneSource and implemented TaxStream software to minimize manual entry

and eliminate significant errors in deferred tax inventory that had

resulted in tax provisions being tagged with SOX deficiencies or

required restatements. Reduced time to enter trial balance from seven

months to one day and M-1 calculations from one month to automatic,

and identified $15M in prior year errors, the rectification of which

eliminated SOX deficiencies and produced accurate balances.

detailed review of the corporate tax returns and filed amended returns

for the affected years, receiving over $1M in refunds.

. Brought all tax compliance and planning activities in-house,

eliminating the need for contract services and saving in excess of

. Designed an automated tax forecasting model to calculate monthly tax

benefits and expenses for all affected corporations, which was

especially necessary as the company needed to show potential investors

this information on a regular basis. Overall, this system improved

efficiency and accuracy by reducing the manual input of data.

create an automated 1099 production process to address inefficiencies

and frequent inaccuracies on the forms. Within the first year, forms

mailed 2 weeks earlier than before and complaints dropped to almost

zero.

. Created an excel spreadsheet template that automatically converted

book income to taxable income, since previously no workpapers existed

to summarize statutory financial statements to the Form 1120-L return.

Reduced the time necessary to review annual tax return by over 50%.
