Career Objective
I want to work in an environment where growth and advancement are expected
of both myself and by the organization. I receive greatest job satisfaction
performing "hands-on" problem solving and using ingenuity to overcome
challenges. It is important to me to feel that my job is significant and
that I execute it well.
Experience
Prepressnow 4/09-present)-Sarasota, Florida
I provide prepress services and offer all prepress functions to clients.
From initial design to proof generation to providing plate ready files to a
platemaker.
Prime Source, Inc.-(9/99-4/09)-Sarasota, Florida
When I was hired, this established screen and thermal label printer had
just purchased a narrow web Flexographic press. I developed prepress
procedures, a file storage system and performed all prepress functions for
that new operation. During my employment, the company grew to encompass
facilities in three states, acquired three Flexographic presses and an
Indigo digital press. In addition to the printing plates, I laid out and
ordered over one thousand dies for these presses.
Information was provided to me in a wide variety of ways; from hand drawn
sketches, CAD files, sample labels, or professionally made electronic
files. I used these in combination with the quote detail to produce a proof
for customer verification.
I performed color corrections, traps, bleeds, minimum dot adjustments, etc.
to the files. Then added bearers, stepped and distorted the files to create
plate ready files. My system of file storage was very organized and enabled
me to save the company the purchase of hundreds of plates by using "common
plates" whenever possible.
I created and maintained an FTP site to facilitate transfer of large files.
Sarasota Herald-Tribune-Sarasota, Florida
I built advertising pages. I set type, placed images and adjusted files
that were received from a variety of sources and in various programs so
that they would produce error-free plates and print correctly. This
included: correcting file formats, font problems, making press gain
adjustments, size corrections, copy/art changes, etc. Creating final output
that would be compatible with four color offset printing.
I paginated and prepared output for special publications.
Trinity Graphic USA, Inc.-Sarasota, Florida
My job was to receive digital files from clients in a variety of graphic or
page-layout programs.
Modify these files so flexographic plates could be made that would print
properly. For example, files were adjusted to create traps, bleeds, minimum
dot in gradients or halftones and were adjusted for press gain. Colors,
fonts and dimensions were adjusted as necessary for press capabilities.
