Experience:
2006 - Present, Senior Analyst, Government Contractor, Kings Bay, GA
- Alteration Installation Team coordinator providing oversight of
government contractor maintenance and modernization performed on SSGN and
SSBN submarines.
- Supervised the self contained breathing apparatus fire fighting system
installation on the USS Wyoming. Coordinated the inside and outside
riggers, cranes, forklifts, submarine personnel, civil service supervisors
and the contractors to remove all original equipment and install the new
fire fighting equipment system throughout the submarine on time.
- Interfaced with and provided support as needed for: Submarine Commanding
Officers, 3M maintenance coordinators, Supply Officers, AIT contractors,
civil service maintenance shops, Configuration data managers, Naval
Supervising Authority, Life Cycle Managers, Validation Teams, and Type
Commander Personnel.
- Memorandum of Agreement Coordinator for Subase Kings Bay GA. Develop,
process and track to completion, all MOAs for Alteration Installation Teams
and Government Teams performing maintenance work on SSBN and SSGN
submarines.
2003 - 2005, Lead Instructor, Trident Training Facility, Kings Bay, GA
- Handpicked to supervise the ESM and periscope courses of instruction.
Provided 1200 hours of hands on technical instruction per student.
- Went beyond the operational course curriculum to teach students how to
perform system maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the ESM system
and the Type 15L periscope system. Taught students how to use maintenance
documentation for troubleshooting.
- Instructed students how to perform RF signal analysis using system test
instrumentation. Taught students aural recognition of RF signals and how to
obtain PW, PRF, PRI, Frequency, Scan time, Scan type, and Signal strength.
- Evaluated submarine qualified technicians for procedural accuracy and
equipment knowledge. Provided feedback and training recommendations to the
ships Commanding Officer.
1999 - 2003, Maintenance Supervisor, USS Tennessee SSBN Gold, Kings Bay, GA
- Selected by the Commanding Officer to supervise and coordinate all
hydraulic, electronic and electrical maintenance work performed on all the
submarines masts and antennas.
- Planned and supervised the safe removal and installation of all masts and
antennas during an extended maintenance period.
- Coordinated 1700 man hours of antenna maintenance during two maintenance
periods.
- Consistently identified as the best antenna maintenance coordinator on
the waterfront.
- Volunteered to repair a mission critical communications system that had
been down for seven days. Utilized maintenance documentation and electronic
test instrumentation to perform component level troubleshooting. Repairs
were made by using components from another CCA and soldering them to the
faulty CCA. This system was tested and fully operational in two days.
- Periscope system developed a serious fault causing it to electrically
rotate by itself. Utilized system test procedures, maintenance
documentation, extender cards, oscilloscope, and a digital volt meter to
troubleshoot the problem to a faulty relay not carried onboard.
With the Commanding Officers permission rewired the system to allow for
operation in one direction until repair parts could be obtained.
- Performed soldering repairs to the periscope training handles, RF cables,
electrical cables, amphenol connectors and made electronic repairs to the
ships FURUNO radar system.
- Used QA test procedures to performed hydrostatic pressure testing of
AN/BRA-24 antenna assembly motor to verify system integrity under pressure.
Checked for current calibration of tools and gauges to perform the test.
- Used QA test procedures to perform system airblast tests to submarine
periscope hull glands to check for system integrity and water tightness.
1997 - 1999, Electronics Technician Supervisor, USS Billfish SSN 676,
Groton, CT
- Selected over two senior navigation division supervisors to supervise the
navigation division. Selected due to leadership ability.
- With no navigation background trained and cross qualified three different
job ratings into one .
- Supervised the shut down and removal of all ships classified
cryptographic equipment and cryptographic material with 100%
accountability.
- Troubleshot, repaired, and performed preventative maintenance to the
ELINT analysis system, radio direction finding system, direction finding
mast, TYPE-18 electronic periscope system, the ships radar mast system and
the commercial FURUNO radar navigation system.
- Used electronic test instrumentation such as signal generators, frequency
generators, gigatronix, TDR time domain reflectometer, spectrum analyzer,
huntron tracker, oscilloscope, digital volt meter, RF feed horns, gortex RF
test cables and RF sweep equipment.
- Engineered a way to obtain a ships navigational fix after both GPS
antennas had been damaged by ice keels during a collision.
1993 - 1997, Course Supervisor, Submarine Training Facility, San Diego, CA
- Selected to be course supervisor for the submarine dive trainer simulator
and diving officer classroom.
- Trained more than 300 midshipmen junior officers how to drive, submerge
and surface a submarine.
- Volunteered to troubleshoot and repair a faulty radar indicator for the
navigation team trainer. Troubleshot the problem to a bad circuit card
assembly and then solder repaired the circuit card which saved the command
$2000.00.
- Received a monetary award from the US Navy for making a beneficial
suggestion regarding the navigation team plotter. This saved each ship
$3000.00.
1990-1993, Electronic Repair Shop Supervisor, USS McKee AS-41, San Diego,
CA
- Supervised and trained 12 electronic maintenance technicians. Performed
troubleshooting and repairs to submarine electronic test equipment,
communications equipment, navigation equipment and electronic surveillance
equipment.
- Supervised the replacement of a faulty cable within the TYPE-18 periscope
diploop cable harness. Rather than purchasing an entire multi cable
assembly at a cost of $18,000, that would have taken a week to receive, the
diploops faulty cable was repaired by using a good cable from another
diploop assembly. The repaired diploop was reinstalled and tested within 3
hours allowing the submarine to meet its underway commitment and saving the
ship $18000.
- Performed radio frequency end to end system testing of electronic systems
using system test procedures, maintenance documentation and electronic
sweep instrumentation.
