Sears API application:

The Sears API application exposes the futures available on sears.com site

through REST APIs. It supports both transactional APIs such as login, add

to cart and non-transactional APIs such as product search, product details.

The application communicates with Websphere Commerce Server and Solr

search engine in the backend. The APIs are now open to the developer

community on internet through http://developer.sears.com

Responsibilities:

. Technical point of contact for http://developer.sears.com

. Responsible for migration of the product search APIs from Mercado

search engine to Solr search engine.

. Responsible for migration of the application server from Websphere to

JBoss

. Technical support for integrating Sears API application with Sonoa API

platform

. Responsible for developing new APIs such as User Profile APIs and Gift

Registry APIs

. Responsible for setting up Hudson continuous integration tool and

Jmeter automated testing

. Responsible for building a Search Compare tool for comparing the

search results from different ecommerce sites of Sears. The tool was

outside the API application, but used the product search API to

populate the search results. The tool was a J2EE application built on

Struts.

Sears Ecommerce:

Sears has multiple ecommerce sites - sears.com, kmart.com, mygofer.com,

craftsman.com, kenmore.com and thegreatindoors.com, all on Websphere

Commerce Server 6.0. Features and patches get released to these sites every

week.

Responsibilities:

. Responsible for automating the release process. Created automation

scripts in Perl which integrated Subversion and JIRA and auto-

generated release notes in Wiki.

. Responsible for setting up Luntbuild and Hudson continuous integration

tools for automated builds.

. Responsible for creating an automated patch-apply tool for applying

patches on WCS Integration environments. Developers could use this

tool to upload patches (JSP and class files) to WCS Integration

environments. The tool automatically applies the patches and restarts

the servers. The tool was a J2EE application built on Struts.

. Involved in the analysis and upgrade to WCS Fix Pack 7 (WCS 6.0.0.7).

Responsible for merging the Fix Pack 7 changes with the Sears WCS code

base and also rolling out the Fix Pack 7 installations to developer

workstations.

Sears Ecommerce Transformation:

The sears.com and kmart.com sites were originally on two different

platforms - Broadvision and Fry respectively. The Ecommerce Transformation

project involved in migration of the two sites to a common platform on IBM

Responsibilities:

. Responsible for migration of the Browse & Search module. This involved

integrating Websphere Commerce Server 6.0 with Mercado search engine.

. Involved in migration of users from Broadvision platform of old

sears.com to new sears.com on WCS

. Responsible for creating two new sites - Kenmore.com and Craftsman.com

which has its own browse-n-search user experience, but cart and

checkout was on sears.com

. Responsible for the Procurement Integration module which involved

creating a B2B site for State Farm Insurance from Sears.

. Point of contact for WCS Developer Toolkit related issues for the

eCommerce team.

. Responsible for migration of the version control tool from ClearCase

to Subversion for the WCS project. Also responsible for devising the

branching and merging strategy for Sears eCommerce release cycles.
