Server Manager SQA Engineering
Contracted to assist the OEM development team on the LANDesk Server Manager
product, sold to corporations directly, and to OEMs: INTEL, Gateway,
FounderTech, etc. This product is a browser-based system administration
console that provides monitoring of system resources, health states, and
reporting, scaling up to 10,000+ servers. Design, implement, and execute
test cases, test automation, test lab configurations, etc. Development
technologies involved are .Net, ActiveX, MSSql Server, Oracle, Rational
Test Manager, IPMI, SNMP, and TCP/IP network protocols running on Windows
2000/2003 servers and Linux. Work was done using an Agile development
method.

Founded new company to meet market opportunity in a growing
leisure/hospitality industry. Leveraging newer technology (.NET, Tenfold,
Java, Linux) to enter market quickly, developing an enterprise application
with primary components being CRM/Sales management, PBX integration,

positioning activities. Provided direction on engineering resource

1998 - 2002
Senior Software Manager (Internetworking Systems Group)
Recruited initially under the auspices of Ascend Communications prior to
the acquisition by Lucent to oversee the release process redesign of the
real-time embedded operating system, True Access Operation System (TAOS).
Also supervised up to 20 direct reports, as many as 25 contractors, and a
$4.5 million annual budget. Managed the sustaining engineering,
development, and local SQA for the MAX, MaxTNT, and APX Remote Access
Servers, all industry leading products. Evaluated existing development
processes/ business systems to propose product quality release process
improvements. Maintained relationships with top tier customer contacts to
insure satisfaction and quick problem resolution. Created and instituted
product specifications, evaluated and prioritized new feature requests, and
engaged with customers to coordinate defect resolution efforts. Budgeted,
hired, and developed software engineers. Remotely delegated assignments to
and oversaw offsite programming and testing contractors located in
Bangalore, India.

1997 - 1998 Product
Manager (Java Technical Division)
Re-hired to oversee product design and strategy for the new NetWare SDK
product. Formulated, championed, and disseminated the firm's Java specific
enterprise product strategy. Cultivated relationships with industry leaders
to influence emerging Java standards. Developed database apps (SQL)
accessed via Java interfaces, such as JDBC. Evaluated WebSphere, WebLogic
and other framework technologies to determine viability for purchase,
licensing or partnership. Promoted and enforced standards for internal
corporate Java development initiatives. Conceptualized and authored an
internal education and testing methodology to certify Java programmers and
administered an automated grading system for subsequent delivery to
superiors. Promoted initial research into Secure Identity Management
Systems that subsequently evolved into the existing Novell Nsure Secure
Identity Management product.

Hired to complete an existing $2 million contract between PeopleSoft and
Apple while reporting to the Vice President of Development. Directed
technical design, implementation, testing/quality assurance, staffing,
legal and marketing activities on this client server enterprise database
application. Provided consultation on next generation distributed
architecture design requirements including Java clients and conceptualized
and implemented a comprehensive companywide education and training measure.
. Successfully executed a $2 million porting initiative involving
interfacing with SQLServer, Oracle, IBM and Centura.
NOVELL
1987 - 1996
Product Manager (1995 - 1996)
Promoted to assist with the internal and external launch of the OSA (Open
Solutions Architecture) message. Engaged with BrainShare '96, authored
multiple positioning and technical papers, and assisted with a strategic
corporate announcement. Also integrated OSA into DCE, COM, Tuxedo and CORBA
industry standards.
Manager (Novell API Research and Architecture) (1994 - 1995)
Promoted to oversee a project team tasked with investigating, promoting and
defining a new company wide developer-centric infrastructure.
Conceptualized, designed and implemented the Web ShortCuts browser utility
for Macintosh, integrating browser functionality with the Mac finder
metaphor and establishing visual web site links.
Development Manager (Novell-API Development) (1993 - 1994)
Promoted to oversee the development, release, and maintenance of NetWare
Client SDK Libraries while supervising a team of 15 development and test
engineers. Directed all phases of the product life cycle concentrating on
