Accomplishments.-
. Reduce Prices on wood pallets purchase orders by $7500 dlls per year
. Develop system / process of how to order labels and corrugated trays
and boxes
. Develop expedite report to maintain good control of open orders and
reduce production shortages.
. Eliminate over shipment from the suppliers 15% to 20% more of what
was in the PO

Dec. 2002 to Aug. 2008 - Johnson Controls, Inc. EDIASA 6 - Materials and
Operations Manager (promotion) Active Plant Manager- Start-up Team

Accomplishments.-
. Move operations from Maysville, Kentucky to Juarez Mexico without
affecting the customers on delivery or quality. Daily meeting with the
whole team to assure the time line is meet according with the plan,
also it helps a lot having our customers informed.
. Reduce Inventory level from 7.5 million to 4.2 by doing this we saved
space and Increase Inventory turns. We did this by analyzing each
part number, and according with a history used we determinate what to
keep and what to sell to another plants or back to the suppliers.
. Certification of ISOTS-16949 and ISO-14001
. Reduce Back Orders with FORD and NISSAN to the levels expected by top-
management. Using some overtime if the raw materials were in house and
expedite the materials needed to produce the pieces, internal daily
meetings with Master production scheduler and superintendent were also
performance.
. Reduce overtime and eliminate production shutdown during our annual
physical inventory performance. We prepare ourselves with enough time
to do pre-inventory activities during normal shift time.
. Generate free floor space and add more production modules to be able
to move second shift operations to first shift and still producing the
same daily pieces. Estimate savings $30,000 dlls/yr.
. Eliminate the use of a forklift elevator Estimate savings 9,600
dlls/yr.
. Reduce price of a sub-contract with a supplier who was charging more
than 100% of what was estimated by our corporate purchasing office.
Estimate Saving $136,800 dlls/yr
. Reduce on trailers storages, change trailers boxes to be use for
store obsolete materials purposes only, which was 1/2 price cheaper
than the one we used for movements and crossing the border, Estimate
Saving was $ 11,500 dlls/yr
RESPONSABILITIES
As Materials Manager:
Customer Service - Ensured high levels of customer satisfaction. Had 32
customers with a wide variety of part numbers and different due dates. In
charge of one Superintendent and 4 MPS (Master Production Schedulers).
Conducted regular meetings with customers one to three times a week
depending on customer needs and to discuss priorities, status of the orders
on the production floor, and to determine shipping dates.
Suppliers Follow up - Made sure that all purchase orders and releases for
approximately 50 suppliers were placed according to customer demands and/or
MRP (Master Resource Planning). Some EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) to
the supply base.
Inventory Control - Maintained a Cycle Count program for all locations (El
Paso Warehouse, Juarez SSC, and Juarez EDIASA 6) that covered a total of
over 15000 serial numbers with a total value of $4 million. Maintained an
accuracy of 99% for 4 year in a row (company goal was no less than 95%), at
the same time keeping Inventory Turns according to forecast. Participated
in the implementation a barcode system for production materials.
Key Measurables - Contributed to established plant goals based on annual
profit plan and quarterly forecast. Maintained monthly graphs for
Inventory Turns, Cycle Counts, Inventory Loss/bridge, Freight, Suppliers
Performance, and Customer Service. Prepared and presented road maps with
root cause analysis, issues, and actions with names and dates to corporate
management.
As Operations Manager:
In charge of all operations of EDIASA 6 with a Head count of 136, which
includes 4 Managers, 2 Superintendents, 10 Supervisors, plus Indirect and
Direct associates from the disciplines of Production, Materials, Finances,
Quality, Engineering, CI (Continuous Improvement), Human Resources.
Coordinated STAFF daily meetings with all departments to review the plant
performance, which included Sales, Inventory Levels, Quality IPPMs, RPPMs,
production numbers, and Customer Service. Identify opportunities and
priorities, established a plan of action in a teamwork environment.
Contributed to established plant goals based on annual profit plan and
quarterly forecast. Maintained monthly graphs for Scrap, Overuse,
Efficiency, and Overtime. Prepared and presented road maps with root cause
analysis, issues, and actions with names and dates to corporate management.
Oct. 2000 to Dec. 2002 - Johnson Controls, Inc. COE/EDIASA 4 - Materials
Manager (promotion)

Rafael Diaz - Plant Manager
First in charge of the Materials Dept for the COE plant (Center of
Excellence), then transferred to plant #4 with increased responsibilities.
Accomplishments
. Mentoring the materials team, there were to different groups, playing
different game, and with 4 months we demonstrate to be one team with
one common goal. We did this by scheduling weekly meetings were all
materials personal need to attend and participate, also we took some
time off outside the company to go to lunch.
. Implement of a KANBAN board for production control, with this we were
just produce whatever the customer wants, no more no less. We used
some business practice of the other sister plants and accommodate them
to our environment.
. Reduce overtime and eliminate production shutdown during our annual
physical inventory performance. We prepare ourselves with enough time
to do pre-inventory activities during normal shift time.
. Performance satisfactory cycle count program and be the Benchmark
within the organization. Have a designated person to this activity who

Supervised 5 Materials Expeditors and a Warehouse Supervisor. My principal
objectives were to keep production running, control and reduce freight
cost, and maintain optimal inventory levels with target of 40 inventory
turns. Encouraged and promoted team-work within the materials department
and other departments to meet and exceed customer increasing expectations.

Procured materials from 15 major suppliers in the US. Managed a total of
300 different part numbers. Ran MRP on a weekly basis, analyzed
requirements and planned orders, and sent EDI and paper releases to
suppliers. Maintained a close relationship with my suppliers and insured
the timely delivery of materials. Worked together with Engineers, Cost
Accountants, and Production Supervisors to review current and accurate bill
of materials.
