Objective
A chance to prove my worth as a top drawer professional with a leading NW
Arkansas company. I enjoy solving difficult and challenging problems. I
am a honest and loyal employee.
Summary
I have 17 years of engineering experience and 7 years of general business
management experience. I am highly motivated to work hard and do a great
job, available for work immediately and have already relocated to NW
Arkansas. I am willing to enter a different area of engineering or other
opportunity at a lower level than my background experience level.
Technical Skills
I have good written and verbal communication skills. I have a very high
aptitude in mathematics. I am proficient in computer spreadsheets, word
processing, CAD systems and basic programming. I am experienced in
engineering part number systems, change orders, and best engineering
practices. I am a creative thinker and able to formulate unique solutions
to complex problems. I am a fast learner when presented with new
challenges.
Professional Experience
2001 - 2008, Yamaha of Madison, Inc, Madison, IN, Owner, President
Corporation owned 3 motorsports dealerships located in Madison, IN,
Louisville and Carrollton, KY. Company had 25 full time employees, 6
million dollar average annual revenue. I personally implemented Madison
and Louisville startup including property acquisition, Yamaha and Polaris
franchise agreements, initial staffing and operations. I sold my interest
in Kentucky dealerships at the end of 2005. I closed the Madison
dealership at the end of 2008 due to declining sales.
1996 - 2001, Valeo Sylvania, Seymour, IN, Sr. Optical Engineer
Sylvania is an automotive lighting supplier to Ford, GM, Chrysler,
primarily headlamps and also signal lamps. I worked in the Optical
Engineering development group providing optical design software and
measurement tools used by the optical design engineers. I supported Catia
CAD based proprietary optical design and analysis software NOVA.
I collaborated with G. Pedeville to program C++ surface generation
algorithm with vertical axis collimation and uniform horizontal axis spread
light, ideal for low beam and signal lighting surfaces. Algorithm used
curve generation method I had developed at Grote. I integrated source
apodization models into Nova raytracing for much more accurate predicted
light distribution eliminating optic tooling re-cuts.
I assisted with LMT goniometer system installation for Seymour production
testing, Visual Basic programming for proprietary goniometer system for
development testing, Radiant Imaging screen photometer installation at
Hillsboro, NH, LSI sealed beam production screen system at Corbin, KY.
1989 - 1996, Grote Industries, Madison, IN, Optical Engineer, Product
Design Engineer
Grote is a lighting and safety system supplier to Ford, Navistar, John
Deere. I started as a design engineer using PDGS and Pro-Engineer CAD
systems for lighting product designs, primarily injection molded plastic
part design. I was promoted to the first in-house optical engineer. I
developed a numerical method for conic curve generation algorithm producing
perfectly uniform raytrace angular spread from a point source using
MathCad. I implemented LSI Raymaster and BRO ASAP raytracing software. I
assisted in LMT goniometer system installation. I was issued US Patent
5,567,036 - Clearance and side marker lamp on October 22, 1996.
1984 - 1989, Baldwin Electronics, Fayetteville, AR, Product Design Engineer
I implemented the first company mechanical design CAD system, VersaCad. I
started job designing products on V-Trac drafting tables. I designed
injection molded plastic parts and printed circuit board layout design
using Gerber CAD system with photographic film laser drum plotter.
1979, ArkLa Gas Co., Little Rock, AR, Summer Intern
I worked one week in every department as a summer intern as an introduction
to the natural gas industry.
Education
1984, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR, BS Mechanical Engineering
1978, US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO
1978, Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville, AR, Co-valedictorian
