Bargo Engineering ( Fayetteville, AR (12/1996 - 6/2009)

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Led teams of up to 8 in all facets of mechanical design work for this

engineering firm and machine shop that serviced manufacturing facilities

and other clients in sectors such as automotive, oil field, and home

building products. Conducted tooling design and project management through

fabricating of parts or assembling. Generated quotes to customers that

ranged from $200 parts to $50K in machinery. Managed budgets of up to

several hundred thousand dollars for assignments as well as ongoing budgets

for office technology equipment and supplies.

. Designed lightweight attachment for robot arm that allowed client to

double production volume with this tool and automated cutoff machines

that doubled width and thickness of products produced by another

height of rolls and more flexibility in the size of product produced

Charged with process improvement for 2 areas of the factory and assumed

project unsuccessfully undertaken by another engineer. Assessed concepts,

designed tooling, generated cost estimates, and spearheaded successful

project management with a staff of 5 direct reports. Planned, coordinated,

and applied resources throughout equipment installation process. Trained

machine operators on all 3 shifts.

. Doubled production of 3 machines in 1 area of the factory through

design of new tooling that fit drilling machines originally equipped

with single drills. Designed multiple drill head adjustable tooling

that not only doubled production but provided for multiple sizes of

the product to be produced.

. Developed universal change out mounting plates that allowed tooling to

be assembled while machine was running and reduced actual machine

downtime due to changeover by 75%.

The Gates Rubber Company ( Siloam Springs, AR (7/1991 - 9/1995)

Manufacturing/Focused Factory Engineer II

Provided full-scale engineering support of a self-contained manufacturing

"factory" within an industrial plant that mass produced automotive and

industrial belts. Worked as part of a team and utilized lean manufacturing

techniques in all aspects of the position. Conducted process improvements,

process automation, safety and ergonomic design and re-design, machine

design, and workspace/equipment layout. Generated project estimates and

coordinated resources through final conclusion.
