Corporate HR/Safety Director – Responsible for hiring 64 truck drivers and office
personnel. Maintaining terminals in Jacksonville, FL and Memphis, TN. Administrator for
company personnel and all tractor insurance policies. Manage and maintained workers
compensation program. Established and maintained OSHA required files. Documented and
informed insurance company of all accidents. Reviewed all accidents to ensure safety
precautions had been followed and determine if these precautions should be further ratified.
Enacted and maintained an insurance benefit package for drivers. Accountable for creating a
safety department with the capabilities to enact and enforce a safety program that would
include guidelines for driver recruiting, driver qualification files, reconciliation of driver logs
ensuring drivers were DOT compliant, and ensuring random drug/alcohol screenings were
performed. This program involved the ability to pass a DOT compliance audit. With this
program in place the company was able to successfully pass a DOT Compliance audit in
October 2007 and again in April 2008. Researched, wrote and initiated an Owner/Operator
contract giving the company an opportunity to enlarge their fleet by 30 drivers while
reducing other costs.
March 2005 – October 2006 Truckers Plus HR Jacksonville, FL
Director of Operations – Staff included an assistant and a sales manager. Hired an average
of 40 qualified drivers, maintain driver qualification files, verify past employment, obtain
background information using DAC services, dispatch drivers, answer dispatch phone 24
hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring customers can get a driver when needed, train offices in
San Diego, CA and Dallas, TX, develop weekly print advertising, control and maintain
budget for office, develop and sustain positive relationships with transportation companies
and existing drivers, compile and manage payroll for drivers and insure correct invoicing to
customers, collections of past due accounts, compile and update random drug testing, take
initial report of incident when driver is injured while on duty, contact insurance company and
maintain workers compensation file.
January 2004 – November 2004 National Freight Industries Jacksonville, FL
Recruiting Manager – Staff included 2 recruiters and 2 assistants. Hire an average of 10 –
15 qualified drivers throughout the Southeast region per week, verify past employment,
obtain trucks and loads for new drivers, develop weekly print advertisings throughout the
southeast region, update and maintain productivity report, advertising analysis report,
accounts payable, obtain the services of a clinic where potential drivers would go for DOT
physicals and drug tests, maintain random pool for drug and alcohol testing, maintain
positive relationship with existing drivers, obtain lodging and transportation for new drivers.
