Contract attorney with major international oil and mining company, responsible for negotiating
and drafting Master Service Agreements, Commercial Agreements, Purchase Orders, Rig
Assignments, Charters, Powers of Attorney, and other documents for international oil field work
including drilling, seismic, subsea and ROV, vessel charters, transportation, casing, and all
aspects of off shore drilling.
Counseling and legal work for various small oil and gas, real estate and individual clients.
Courtroom and Agency Appearances. Consulted on M&A, financing, contractual and risk issues.
Contract electronic document review and discovery response work in highly complex energy
litigation cases.

Member of litigation group responsible for corporate defense of personal injury, toxic tort,
environmental, property and surface damage, royalty, products liability, insurance, indemnity and
commercial claims. Led investigations into compliance, environmental, and possible criminal
issues. Budgeted for staff and cases. Business units supported included: Exploration and
Production, Pipeline, Refining and Marketing, Petrochemicals, and NGLs in Southeastern,
Midwestern, Southwestern and Western US, Alaska, and off shore Gulf of Mexico. Specific
claims handled have included auto accidents, wrongful death claims, contractor injuries,
insurance disputes, environmental damaged, products liability, land owner and leaseholder
disputes, construction disputes, and commercial disputes.
Served on corporate law department steering committee for the integration of the legal
departments of Amoco, ARCO, BP, Castrol, and Vastar. Served as legal counsel to the global
committees that standardized accident investigation reporting protocols.
Consulted regularly with all levels of management from field to boardroom on risk management,
contract provisions with special emphasis on indemnity and insurance provisions,
compliance with state and federal regulations and public reputation issues.
Managed complex lawsuits, including one involving a defective drag line at ARCO’s Australian
coal mine that resulted in a 24 million dollar judgment.
Managed successful defense of multiple wrongful death lawsuits.
Managed multi-plaintiff toxic tort docket, heavy on class action allegations, numbering in the
100s.
Managed three person office responsible for litigation and counseling in the Mid Continent, West
Coast, Rockies, and Alaska for all upstream, midstream, and downstream operations.
