PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Vought Aircraft Industries (Northrop Grumman Corporation), 1979 -2001
Senior Design Engineering Specialist
Gulfstream V Wing, 767 Tanker, C5 CS (CATIA modeling) 11/2002 – 04/2010
(Contract Engineer)
Retired, 01/2001 - 11/2002
Gulfstream IV, F-100, Bus Jet and C-17 11/1997 - 01/2001
Provided engineering support, designed and sustained improvements of small nacelles
created at Stuart, Florida facility and C-17 components produced at Grand Prairie, Texas
facility. In addition, responsibilities included the design and repair of nacelles from
acoustic liners inlets for thrust reverser doors.
JSTARS Program 6/1997 - 10/1997
Provided engineering support to correct manufacturing problems and service defects
caused by fifty thousand plus flight hours. This required structural repairs and
refurbishing the Boeing 707 aircraft.
Gulfstream GV Wing Design, Lead Engineer 7/1993 - 6/1996
Responsible for layout and design of front spar assembly and leading edge attach
structure for GV wing. Created 3D solid models of CATIA, from which 2D drawings and
electronic data sets were created and released for production. Performed trade studies for
feasible weight reduction of wing trailing edge and provided engineering sustaining and
support for FAA first article-inspection.
C-17 MPMCPC (Industry Assist) - McDonnell Douglas Aircraft 6/1996 - 2/1997
Redesigned C-17 Horizontal Stabilizer ribs, and attachments for reduced weight and cost
associated with improved manufacturing processes.
Boeing 777 (Industry Assist) 4/1991 - 1/1993
Responsible for layout, design and analysis of wing structure on the fixed trailing edge of
wing. Provided conceptual design through complete definition of details, assemblies and
installations using CATIA (3D modeling of solid components and converting these solids
into 2D drawings and electronic data sets).
C-17 Liaison/Design, 8/90 - 3/91 & 2/93 -
7/93
Responsible for engineering investigations and evaluations of structures and systems to
correct problems and initiate improvements as needed by manufacturing for production
of the empennage and nacelles for the USAF C-17 Program.
A-12 (General Dynamics Industry Assist) 8/1988 - 8/1990
Responsible for layout and design of structural and details fabricated from advance
composites for fixed and movable trailing edge using CATIA and CADAM graphics
systems for computer generated drawings.
C-17 (Industry Assist Douglass Aircraft) 7/1985 - 8/1988
Completed layout, design and analysis of front spar, ribs and fittings for horizontal
stabilizer. This work consisted of conceptual layouts through completion of production
drawings using 3-D CADD system.
B-1 Liaison 11/1981 - 7/1985
Engineering liaison for support production. Designed changes/improvements and
corrections as requested by manufacturing. This work required MRB approval by AFPRO
which allowed disposition and correction of non-conforming details and assemblies.
757 Program (Boeing Industry Assist) 8/1979 - 10/1981
Responsible for layout and design of longerons (upper and lower), fittings and related
structure in aft fuselage section.
