Project # 1: VOLTS
VOLTS use Microstrategy 7.5 to generate reports and Oracle 9i as its
backend. VOLTS run on citric server. Currently VOLTS application has been
upgraded from version 4.2 to 4.3. During this process of upgrade changes
were made in the database. New tables/columns were added, some of the
existing columns deleted or moved to another table. There were some changes
made in the metadata (schema objects to point to these new tables). Due to
these upgrades the reports is not giving the desired result. The task is to
test the reports and make sure that the existing reports work fine and give
the same output in the upgraded system. Also to work on the new report
requirements for the users.
Project # 2: Days vs. Depth
The Project Days Vs Depth deals with the understanding of the user
processes like drilling information that was being fed into the database
using an application. The traditional reporting was done on excel with data
being queried from the database and manually pasted in the Excel
spreadsheets from where graphical reports were generated. This involved
tremendous manual effort in collecting the data from database and modifying
it to the reporting format.
In Days vs. Depth project, we analyzed this drilling data and generated
reports using Microstrategy. This was a challenging project since we were
generating Engineering graphs using business reporting tool.
Responsibilities:
. Responsible for requirement gathering, Assessment and Estimation and
Impact Analysis of the new enhancements.
. Provided the prototype development for the reporting requirements.
. Responsible for handling schema objects like Fact, Attributes,
Hierarchies and Transformation.
. Extensively worked in developing Report Services Document, Metrics,
Filters, Prompts, Custom Groups and Consolidation.
. Created New report services document and complex reports.
. Created More than 30 graph reports with complex requirements.
. Interactions with users on regular basis resolving issues and ensure
delivery is on-time.
. Provided analytical support and prepare technical specifications to
effectively maintain, enhance and develop customized report objects
(schema objects) for the application.
. Updating the Process and Functional Specification in accordance with
the changes made.
. Troubleshooting Reports, optimizing the SQL using the VLDB Properties.

AMERICAN EXPRESS (AMEX), NY, USA Dec
'03 - May '04
Cognos Developer
Project # 1: IMEX Reporting
Imex is an application that American Express uses to track the status of
Letters of Credit in whose transactions the bank was involved. The
application is a reengineering project of an existing access application.
The project involves the generation of reports in Cognos Impromptu. The
reports would be delivered to the users through the web. A scheduled batch
process would create reports daily. The application would require executing
queries on an Oracle 8.1.7 database server and displaying the results as a
formatted report.
Responsibilities:
. Creating and validating complex queries. Many of the queries in the
system looked up around 15 tables and used many Dynamic tables.
. Query optimization for poorly performing query objects using query
hints and analytical functions supported by Oracle 8.1.7 instead of
sub queries.
. Writing a Macros and Batch, this will run all the 25 reports at once
and generates as a PDF and XLS format. Then all the reports which are
generated are moved to QA and to Production Environment.
. Schedule the batch to run everyday around 5 P.M NY time. Batch should
start once it receives the trigger file from the .Net process
otherwise batch needs to check for the trigger file once in 10 mts.
Once it receives the trigger file then only the batch should start the
entire process.
. Estimation plan for the new requirement from the Client for the
different regions (New York, Frankfurt etc)
Achievement:
. Appreciation and Award from client for the timely delivery of reports,
Immediate bug fixing, New Requirement Implementation and for the
Production Support.
Project # 2: CBMIS (Correspondent Banking Management Information System)
The CBMIS was created to provide a means of measuring the performance of
Relationship Managers and of giving them the tools to understand the
profitability of their customers. The system produces two basic reports:
"Business owner" reports which show the breakup of revenue from an
individual Relationship Manager's customers; and a "Scorecard" reports
which measures performance of business units (RM, Team, Region) against
agreed business goals.
The objective of the project was to design and build a data mart, for data
Extraction, Transformation and Loading using the SQL Server 2000 DTS. Data
was extracted from SQL Server, Access and Flat file data source, cleansed,
Transformed & Loaded in a separate repository using which fast & efficient
reports were generated using Cognos Impromptu. These reports give an
insight into business trends and make them better forecasting decisions as
well as provide business users with a customer centric view of
heterogeneous data.
Responsibilities:
. Validating the Reports, Testing etc.
. IWR Report Publishing.
. Loading a Fresh Data using SQL DTS
. Production Support
