RE: Health and Safety Specialist/Manager
Open Position
June 30, 2010
Dear Sir or Ma'am:
Until I was laid off due to tough economical times for the company
in March 2009, I worked for Golder Associates Inc. in Jacksonville since
I completed my Bachelor's degree at Virginia Tech in 2000. I gained
tremendous experience in the fields of Health and Safety and Industrial
Hygiene. I also used my background in Biology to assist the Geotechnical
and Environmental groups at the Golder Associates Jacksonville office.
My work as a consultant took me to industrial facilities, to remote rural
sites, to commercial and residential complexes, and to an office where I
was responsible for generating high quality written reports. I work hard
whether I wear business attire or a respirator, hard hat and safety
boots. During my search for a permanent job, I have been working as a
substitute teacher at my children's elementary school.
I have contractor oversight, program auditing and employee training
experience. I am accustomed to delivering many types of presentations,
whether using Power Point or merely providing information with eye
contact. I operate well under pressure, and can deliver effective and
clear written or verbal communication to meet project deadlines. I thrive
in the office or the field, and I am capable of business trips; having a
family does not preclude me from travelling if needed.
I enjoy others' company, but I am also capable of working independently.
I have gained experience that gives me strength of character; I am a team
player but am not swayed by others to compromise my values. Other
character skills are listed as follows:
1. Energy and motivation: I believe that anything worth doing is worth
doing well. I am accustomed to delivering high quality products and
hold myself to those standards.
2. Flexibility and stamina: I can multi-task, or I can hold to a static,
focused task until completion.
3. Compatibility and compassion: I enjoy interaction and working with
others to attain goals. I am also excellent at putting myself in
others' shoes to understand their positions.
4. Honesty and integrity: I work hard to avoid errors, but am forthright
about mistakes and take responsibility for my own blunders. I hold
myself and others in high esteem, and do not compromise my values in
communication.
I appreciate your time and consideration. Please see also my attached
resume for details of my experience. Thank you!
Sincerely,
