I. Kappa Increase Project Lead - Conducted initial study to increase Pulp

Mill Kappa target from 95 to 115 and % Yield from 61% to 66%; Project

provides flexibility to the mill by either reducing weak liquor usage

(cost decrease) or increasing mill production (profit increase); First

Scenario (reduction in weak liquor usage) leads to annual cost savings

of $ 2.6 million; Second Scenario (production increase) leads to annual

profit increase of $ 11 million; Project requires installation of a

rejects refiner & screen in the Pulp Mill; Calculated project ROI &

payback period; Successful implementation will place mill within the

higher end of the industry spectrum in Kappa & Yield %

II. Pre-Evaporation Project Lead - Project recovers wasted heat from the

blow heat accumulator for steam usage on the Pre-Evaporators; Created

mass & heat balances for the Evaporators & Recovery Boiler; Conducted

trials on Washer lines & calculated Recovery Boiler & Washer

efficiencies; Performed project cost justification analysis by

calculating project ROI & payback period; Leads to $3.9 million in

annual plant cost savings; Also leads to increased Recovery Boiler

efficiency (burning higher solids %), increased Washer efficiency,

decrease in chemical costs, increased black liquor solids from the

washers & increase in number of digester blows

Other Job Functions:
