ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Developed, negotiated and implemented Drug & Alcohol Free Workplace

policy; including on-site drug and alcohol testing for all

injuries, property damage and reasonable suspicion incidents;

trained drug and alcohol test collectors on breath alcohol

tests and urine drug collection and analysis. On-site drug and

alcohol testing savings to company estimated at $15,000 in 2

years.

Developed, negotiated and implemented Smoke-Free Work Environment

policy; provided smoking education, classes and support groups

to employees prior to and during elimination of smoking on all

grounds.

Engineered computer based confined space reference tool for 500 +

confined spaces; including pictures, configurations, associated

hazards and air sampling requirements as well as a web-based

Lock-Out/Tag-Out job, machine and task specific procedures

program.

Common Audit Process (CAP) Leader - audit of all safety systems

(similar to OSHA's 18001 using ISO format); raised site score

by 33% through documentation, assessments, corrective actions

and employee education. Site received the highest score of all

Sappi Fine Paper mills in North America in 2004. On-site

assessments, documentation and corrective actions saved company

approximately $100K in one year.

Contributed to the development of a positive incident review, root

cause and corrective actions investigation technique for all

incidents which identifies and reduces risks related to

worksite hazards while promoting employee health.

Played a roll in significantly lowering the OIR (OSHA Incident Rate)

and LWICR (Lost Work Incident Case Rate) within a 3 year

period. This was achieved through implementing safety systems;

early diagnosis, close monitoring and treatment off all

occupational injuries and illnesses; early reporting policies;

PPE requirement policies and computer based safety training for

employees.

Successfully implemented eye injury prevention policies and

procedures reducing the amount of OSHA and first-aid eye

injuries from 26 in 2 years to 2 in 1.5 years.

Instituted numerous safety policies including Lead Assessment and

Medical Surveillance; Personal Protective Equipment; Behavior

Safety and Peer Observations; Job Safety Analysis Development;

Industrial Hygiene Assessments and corrective actions;

Occupational Medicine.

Worked closely with Operations Management to significantly lower the

amount of air borne methyl mercaptan, hydrogen sulfide (H2S)

and chlorine dioxide (ClO2) within the Pulp Mill through

engineering controls; developed evacuation and air monitoring

policy; instituted the use of fixed air monitors and evacuation

alarms.

Effectively resolved several sexual and racial harassment complaints

filed by employees resulting in no lawsuits.
