Duties include financial statement preparation, and oversee all
accounting functions, budgeting and expense control. My responsibilities
include making sure that all departments are following the policy and
procedures manual for Sonic Automotive. I have helped bring this dealership
from the bottom of the Denver Region, to #2 in the Denver Region. I
oversee an office staff of 14 people. I review all schedules on a monthly
basis. I am responsible for:
. Corporate Documents, reports, and Monthend workpapers that are
required for Sonic Automotive.
. Standard entries and accruals for the entire store.
. All deals are posted in a timely manner, and that the corrections from
the Finance department are done quickly, helping if needed to get
corrections done. I
. Review and sign all checks, and reconcile the cash in bank on a daily
basis.
. Weekly asset meetings, to review all accounts receivable schedules,
and to alert the department managers, of any potential problems.
. Cross train all personnel in the accounting department, for a minimum
of 2 positions each.
. Calculate all Bonuses' for associates and all Managers payroll every
month.
. Preparation and transmission of payroll to the Sonic home office.
. All functions of the accounting office for accounts payable, accounts
receivable, dealer trades, wholesales, titles, finance reserves, and
transmission for finance products.
. Internal audits of all asset and liability accounts monthly.
. Responsibilities also include reporting of sales tax, personal
property tax and real estate taxes.

Duties include Preparation of all documents for Financial
Statement, and transmission of Financial Statement to General Motors. I had
an office staff of 9 people. I was responsible for all accounting
functions, and all documents processed through the accounting department.
I cross trained all accounting personnel to do 2 positions to fill in for
other accounting staff when they were out of the office. I calculated all
bonus payrolls for the entire store, and processed payroll for the entire
store. I was responsible for all standard entries, and accruals for the
entire store. I reviewed all schedules on a monthly basis. I worked with
the General Motors System, for the processing of rebates, warranties, and
extended service policies in the absence of the accounting staff.

I started out as a Title Clerk, for the first 4 years working
for Metro Honda. I started training as an Office Manager in 1982. I
learned to process warranties to American Honda Motor Co along with
learning Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable. I then moved into the
Business Manager position. I helped with the acquisition of Metro Acura,
and Metro Toyota. I helped set up the dealerships, purchase furniture, set
up the accounting departments, and helped in hiring the staff for these
dealerships. I was moved to Corporate Business Manager, and handled all
the outside companies owned for Extended Warranties, for all the Metro Auto
Dealerships, and filled in at all dealerships when the Business Manager was
gone, or if one was being replaced.
