DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING
Automobile Robot Controlled by Onboard iPhone May – Aug. 2011
Utilized QFD to designed the functionality and assembly of the robot, control board, iPhone and sensors
Modeled the iPhone holding linkage with SolidWorks for rapid prototyping machine
Communicated with software and control people to accommodate multiple functions
Won the Silver Award of JI Design EXPO (from a pool of about 30 projects)
Medical Devices Design and Manufacturing (Research Assistant at U of Michigan) July – Dec. 2010
Designed the chassis and the scanning mechanism (stepper motor based) of VF Doppler Device and electromagnetic actuator
component of handheld ultrasound handheld imaging device
Created 3D CAD models of the chassis, the scanning mechanism and the actuator for manufacturing using SolidWorks
Manufactured functional prototypes for the scanning mechanism and the actuator in the workshop using milling, drilling, stamping
Pneumatic Robotic Trebuchet Jan. – Apr. 2010
Brainstormed the design of the trebuchet which mimics the motion of human arm throwing a ball using Pro/E
Evaluated the design and simulated the results with dynamic system analyzing tool ADAMS
Manufactured and assembled the trebuchet mainly with band saws and drill presser (aluminum frame)
Nano Robot for Cancer Drug Delivery Apr. – June 2012
Reviewed literature of existing technologies, selected and adapted the most suitable technologies for the project objectives
Designed the functionalities and structures of the nano robot and created the 3D CAD model with SolidWorks
Designed and optimized the fabrication process flow which includes lift-off, ALD, nano imprint
OTHER PROJECTS
MEMS Devices Fabrication Sep. – Dec. 2011
Micro fabricated thermo actuators and deflection sensors utilizing photolithography, CVD, PVD, electroplating, lift-off
Implemented PDMS molding to fabricate micro fluidic channels for flow splitter and bubble generator
Gained hands-on experience of micro fabrication skills in clean room
Construction Management of A Multifunctional Building (Virtually) Jan. – Apr. 2011
Estimated the total cost of the whole project and submitted a bid to the committee
Managed the schedule of the construction based on a variety of unexpected incidents
Coordinated with the owner and the design team to convey key information
EXPERIENCE
Teaching Assistant of Aerospace Engineering Lab Course, UCLA Jan. – Mar. 2012
Designed, prepared and conducted experiments suitable for 24 upper division students
Gave two lectures about experiment related principles and procedures
Taught the students to perform the experiments and properly analyze the data with Matlab or Excel
