Jan 2007- May 2010 Newport News Adult Corrections (Newport News Va.)

Correctional Officer:

• Participate in the day-to-day operations of the jail, processing new inmates and releasing offenders,

maintaining security of the facility, escorting offenders within and /or outside the secure confines of

the jail.

• Assisted in some clerical and reception work to support facility programs, accurately operated a

variety of equipment, including computers, printers, fax and fingerprint machines, digital imaging

computers, physical restraint devices, firearms, and radios.

• Supervise work crews, dispense medications, effectively manage volatile and violent offenders,

operate a master control center and fulfill a number of clerical duties.

• Provided direct supervision of offenders within the housing areas of the jail, including direct

supervision during meal service, security checks, medication distribution, and random or scheduled

housing and cell searches

• Dispense prescription medications to offenders during medication delivery, was responsible for

checking the accuracy of medical orders listed on medication sheets and packets.

• Supervised 140 subordinate personnel in 3 different departments (Male and female)

Trained personnel in Flight Deck (Helicopter) Operations which included Landing

Crafts, Airport Flight line Fire Fighting Procedures, Fork Truck Operations,

and Crane Operations.

abuse, sexual assault and educational benefits.

• Trained personnel on the proper usage, handling and safety procedures of small arms (IE-

Handguns, Shot Guns and various Automatic weapons)

Mar 2002-Oct. 2003: Commander Navy Surface Atlantic Fleet (Norfolk, VA.)

• Supervised a 12 personnel Security Force, in charge of all training and implication of all Anti-

terrorism procedures, which included, Security team watches, Urinalysis, Bomb disposal Unit, and

Prisoner or detainee escort.

• In charge of the personal protection and safety of High ranking Officers and dignitaries (Body

Guard)

Mar 2000- Mar 2002: USS Nashville (Norfolk VA.)

• Drug and Contraband Search and Seizure Team Leader, supervised 7 man team in procedures

including safety while boarding and searching foreign small and large vessels in International seas

while looking for illegal drugs, refugees, fugitives or other contraband. Qualified CPR, Basic First

Aid, Ship Board Fire Fighter, Fork Truck/ Crane Operator.

Mar 1998- Mar 2000 USS Thorn (Norfolk VA.)

• Supervised 54 personnel in various naval landscaping projects.

• Trained personnel on the policies and regulations on handling Hazardous materials, Spray rigs,

paints and thinners.

• Supervised personnel on the removal of corrosion on various vessel hulls.
