Network Engineer I I

• Project Manager for customer circuit orders and subsequent billing. Work directly with account

managers, customers, and vendors to bring customer circuits and colo gear into Rackspace

data centers in both Herndon and Ashburn.

• Provide technical and process guidelines to customers and account managers. Extend customer

circuits from demarc to customer cabinet. Rack, power, and cable customer colo gear.

• Install/troubleshoot switches (access, aggregation, core) 2950, 2960, 2960G, 4948, 6509

• Troubleshooting/maintain spanning-tree (rapid/pvst), hundreds of vlans, IP subnets, and hsrp

• Facilitate documentation for Rackspace best policies: customer circuits - customer facing, colo

gear – customer facing; internal: vlan naming conventions, circuit decommissions, check lists

for backbone personnel (customer circuits, Equinix cross connects)

• Cat 5 cabling as needed

• Initial roll out of ENA’s WAN network to Indiana k-12 schools 2005. Roll out of libraries across

• Installed Cisco 2801, 3825 routers at the customer prem. Configure devices for customer WAN

and LAN hand-off. Locate telco demarc, extend demarc to WAN equipment.

• Scheduled fiber walk outs with vendors in the quote/bid process for upgrades to customer WAN

services. [Document local fiber route, bldg entry point, route to demarc, vendor equipment

specs, hand-off (fiber/copper), and estimated delivery date.

• Participated in the interview process and training of new field staff.

• Worked in call center NOC when not in the field; reported outages to customers and vendors;

t roubleshoot tier 1 network issues
