TO PROJECT MANAGER - CLAIMS MODERNIZATION/LEGACY MOD
03/07
The objective of the Claims Modernization project within
the LM program is to increase the efficiency and pass thru
rate of claims processing while also decreasing the
maintenance cost of the existing Cobol claims system which
consists of over 8500 programs. I managed three projects
within Claims Modernization; two focused on increasing
efficiency and pass thru rate and one focused on reducing
IT maintenance cost.
. Managed three projects that were part of our Claims
Modernization effort; Centralized Claims Choreographer
(CCC), Determine Claim Type (DCT), and Field
Centralization (FCT)
. The goal of these projects was to increase our claims
pass through rate and reduce ongoing system maintenance
costs. The claims system, OSCAR, is a COBOL based
application consisting of over 8500 programs.
. Prior to CCC implementation claims would enter all
programs and then determine if it needed to process
through that program. CCC allows the claim to route
only to the programs that it needs to process through,
increasing processing speed and reducing MIPS.
. FCT's objective was to identify the key data elements
used throughout OSCAR to process a claim, remove them
from thousands of programs and build a centralized
component that would be called when needed.
. Managed team of 13 - 15 business and technical
resources. The team was comprised of Highmark FTE's,
Accenture resources, and contractors.
. Responsible for estimates, staffing, and project
