PROVEN ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Developed and implemented a lean manufacturing project. Chaired the team to
analyse and set up a lean project, utilizing EPEI, supermarkets, kanban and
PFEP. Result: Smoothed production and replenishment, reduced in process
inventory, standardized work processes.
Trained a manufacturing operation. New operation in India needed to be
integrated into the corporate business system for operational and financial
reporting and communication. Chaired the team that created a training
blueprint, led the on-site implementation, and directed remote help
afterward. RESULT: Within 90 days the plant was using the system
successfully, allowing daily communication of operational and financial
results.
Reduced inventory investment. Corrugated packaging supply was uncontrolled
with deliveries out of synch with production and consuming valuable storage
space. Through sourcing initiative, consolidated all purchases with one
supplier, negotiated stocking plan at supplier facility, and daily, next
day delivery of material through electronic kan-ban signals to supplier.
RESULT: Reduced inventory cost by 25% and space utilization by 40%.
Supplier Costs reduced. Customer mandated price reductions were eroding
margins. Negotiated multi-year contracts to elicit annual 2% material price
reductions with suppliers in return for exclusive supply rights. RESULT:
Maintained margin position, and developed excellent supplier relationship.
Designed a consignment process. A Customer required their parts to be
delivered into consignment but our business system had no means to
accommodate this type of sale. All transactions were done manually,
requiring extra staff, and creating a process prone to errors which
resulted in many disputes with the customer. Recommended and wrote the
functional requirements for a set of custom programs to automate the
process using data supplied by customer. RESULT; Eliminated staffing
requirement, increased accuracy to 100%, and allowed auditing of
transactions and inventory balances.
