EXPERIENCE
PDM Bridge LLC, Eau Claire, WI
2009 - 2010
Welding Engineer - Bridge Component Fabrication
. Developed welding procedure specification (WPS) documents for State
DOT and Railroad Agencies. These documents involved development of
procedure qualification records (PQR) and fabrication repair
procedures.
. Managed welder qualification testing of workforce per AWS D1.5. Manage
oversight of testing, third party witness agencies, and coordination
with production supervision. Improved monthly welder test ratio from
50% to 100%.
. Led efforts for process and welding improvement of production
applications. These efforts included optimizing of equipment, defining
welder understanding of procedure, and investigating root causes of
errors. Efforts resulted in a 78% reduction of welding rework.
. Led and facilitated an in-house process improvement welding team. The
team looks to develop and define shortfalls in applications and
develop proactive measures to ensure first time quality and developing
best practices. Team instilled four welding improvement programs.
HOBART BROTHERS CO., Troy, OH 2007 - 2009
Business Development Manager - Heavy Equipment Segment
. Developed rapport with key accounts for the development of business
opportunities. Presented analysis of procedure comparisons that
depict improvement and reductions in labor/bottom line costs. Cost
reductions of 5% - 20 % seen as in each case presented.
. Led efforts to develop the use of the gas metal arc tandem welding
process. This effort developed a tandem system consisting of
components from Bernard, Hobart, and Miller. System benchmarked and
prepared for market release.
. Assertive lead in efforts to reformulate nickel alloy flux core
welding wire. Through formal introduction of formulation aspects with
key accounts an approval test procedure was implemented. Completion
of test procedure led to final product approval of reformulation.
. Led efforts at key accounts to provide added value programs through
the creation of training programs. Programs improved production
greater than 10% through increased knowledge of features, benefits
and use of tubular wire.
MILLER ELECTRIC MFG. CO., Appleton, WI
Product Manager - Advance Technology, Arc Stud Products
2004 -2007
. Led and managed the development of products for the stud welding
process. Two patents were applied for and issued for both the welding
power source and consumables, two additional patents were developed.
. Initiated and led efforts to develop a distribution channel for stud
welding products. From analysis, relations were established that
resulted into an access of non-direct distribution to end users.
. Developed and managed marketing materials for stud welding product
line. Materials developed included product literature, training
guildelines, owner manuals, pricing schedules, and product
comparisons. These materials provided distribution tools to market and
sell the stud welding products.
. Initiated and coordinated the supply chain of stud welding accessories
for all non in-house manufactured accessory products. The
coordination included product line items, term agreements, packaging,
and pricing.

Welding Engineer - Arc Research Team 1999 -
2004
. Led efforts for development of gas metal arc twin welding process.
This effort defined principle features and benefit of process and the
establishment of system components. The system went to market.
. Investigated the welding process aspects of variable polarity and
frequency of submerge arc welding. The investigation looked at the
commercialized features and benefits. Product currently in the
marketplace.
. Investigated the concept of alternative products for the stud welding
market. These concepts involve the use of inverter technology and flux
encapsulated weld studs. Concepts were proven to have commercial
value. Efforts resulted in promotion to Product Manager position.
EDISON WELDING INSTITUTE, Columbus, OH 1995 - 1999
Research Technician - Arc Welding and Automation
. Developed and managed project to investigate parameter characteristic
of the gas metal arc welding process. The research depicted the
parameter cause and effect upon the subsequent weld bead profiles.
. Investigated aspects of welding martensitic transmission piping using
manual welding processes. Investigation defined the aspects of using
the gas tungsten arc, shielded metal arc, and metal core arc welding
processes.
. Investigated the concept of welding 2000 series aluminum with
variable polarity (VP) gas tungsten arc welding. Investigation
developed a suitable VP procedure that provided crack free welding of
base material.
THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY, Columbus, OH 1995 - 1999
Welding Engineering Instructor - Undergraduate Lab
Provided lecture and lab instruction of the manual welding courses in the
new Welding Engineering facility. This position involved designing and
installing the weld training booths and procurement of welding equipment
from manufactures.
LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL, Garland, TX 1991 - 1995
Vocational Welding Instructor
Facilitated operation of two year pre-employment and introduction to metal
trades programs. Improvements to programs were achieved through redesign
of facilities, structure of curriculum, and local sponsoring of welding
contests and field trips.
TRINITY CONTRACTORS, Grand Prairie, TX 1989 - 1991
Pipe Welder - Industrial Contracts
Performed qualified journeyman workmanship for ASME/API code specifications
of plain carbon and stainless steel piping.
MOUNTAIN VIEW COLLEGE, Dallas, TX 1989 - 1995
Welding Instructor - Welding Technology
Provided lecture and lab instruction for course requirements of the Welding
Technology Associates Degree program.
