MeadWestvaco, Evadale, TX.
#5 Dry End Operations Supervisor (10/2009 - present): #5 machine has
weight range of 98 lb - 205 lb @1000 - 1725 FPM and 260" deckle. Making
coated board with two side coating capability, which runs a multitude of
coated grades, primarily Aseptic for the China, Japan and Mexico market,
along with packaging grades for USA and Mexico.
Duties include manage day-to day operations of the winder and roll line
including safety awareness, quality emphasis, inventory management,
training, maintenance and production. Keep ISO 2001 certification through
maintaining and updating documentation checks and controls.
Key accomplishment: paid complaint reduction: Through focusing on customer
feed back, discussing this in the crew meetings along with the home station
group meetings and following up with the crew then to the individual for
accountability.
Operations Supervisor/Assistant Superintendent of the #2 paper machine
(8/2007 - 10/2009): #2 machine had a weight range of 138 lb - 268 lb @ 580-
1100 FPM and 210" deckle. It made both coated and uncoated grades,
including packaging and cup stock.
Responsibilities included the safety, quality, cost, production, and budget
for the machine as well as the stock processing and the winder. Other
duties include setting maintenance priorities, clothing inventories, roll
change frequencies, covers, scheduling outages, chemicals and all trials.
Was also responsible for ensuring the training of the crews for each shift
was adequate and that each shift has the correct skill set to safely
achieve their goals and objectives.
Key accomplishment: Production record was broken the year I was hired and
broken again the following year. This was done by changing how we handled
start-up and hay outs due to pulper issues (under designed for the current
weights and speeds) along with adhering to grade receipts, round sheets and
best practices for draws.
2003-2007
Temple Inland Paperboard, Rome, GA.
Assistant Superintendent of the #2 paper machine: #2 Machine is a
linerboard machine running weights from 24 lb - 45 lb at 2250 - 2500FPM and
240" deckle.
Responsible for the safety, quality, production and budget as well as the
stock processing, winder, roll handling and shipping, setting maintenance
priorities, clothing inventories, trials, roll change frequencies and
covers.
Recycle plant assistant superintendent: Responsible for checkout,
commissioning and start up of a 300 ton per day recycle plant addition,
ensuring that all operating procedures along with lock out tag out
procedures were developed and in place. Ensuring start up was on time and
within budget set. Then maintain housekeeping and safety standards for the
continuous operation.
Key accomplishment: Start up of the recycle facility and going to grade
recipe setting targets for critical operating parameters. Significant
reduction in draws by focusing on the issue and changing felt run in the
2nd section to pistol grip a bottom dryer with the top felt to help sheet
support.
1999-2003

Sales and Service Representative
Responsible for trouble-shooting paper machines, monitoring clothing on
these machines and keeping inventories in line with these mills. We
monitored trials and kept the mills updated with new processes and designs
of the textile market. Worked with mills on the Open Door process which
involves bringing value added services and products to the customers.
1996-1999
Temple Inland Paperboard, Rome, Ga.

Assistant Superintendent of Operations (maintenance coordinator) -
responsible for working as liaison between maintenance and production
setting the day to day maintenance priorities as well as coordinating the
shut down activities for the entire paper mill area, which includes stock
processing, paper machines, winders and shipping.
Supervisor - responsibilities included the continuous operation of two
100% virgin linerboard machines with speeds ranging from 1300 fpm-2500 fpm
(grade dependent) and grades from 24 lb - 90 lb. I was also responsible
for safety, training and development of twenty-eight crewmembers.
1992-1996
Temple Inland Paperboard, Maysville, KY: Maysville is a 100% recycle mill
that ran 24 lb - 69 lb at 1000 - 2900 FPM making both medium and linerboard
with a 300 " deckle.
Team Leader - Responsible for the continuous operation of a 100%
recycle linerboard machine which produced 800 tons per day. Here my
responsibility was to supervise the safety, training and development of
twelve crew members.
Other positions held at this mill include:
Team Support Technician - relieved the team leader during off time and
any skilled jobs (stock prep operator, machine tender, back tender,
additive operator and stock prep field) should the need arise.

Key Accomplishment: Received the first set up to the team support
technician position and then moved up to the team leader roll as well as
being a part of the successful green field mill start up.
1984-1992
Weyerhaeuser Pulp and Paper, Columbus, MS
In Columbus we made light weight coated paper (off machine coater and super
calendars) that ran weights 22 lb - 35 lb at 2500 - 3500FPM with a 300"
deckle. Here we worked under a unique concept, which allows one to
progress at your own pace. Started out as a utility hand and worked my way
through the core shop, winder helper, stock prep helper, winder operator,
back tender, machine tender and stock prep operator.
Key Accomplishment: Advanced past several other operators on the machine
and at one time was the youngest machine tender in the world.
