WORK EXPERIENCE
Graduate Research Assistant, Dissolution of Cellulose, Buffalo, New York,
2008-2010.
. Conducted research to evaluate the molecular dissolution of cellulose
(cotton fibers, microcrystalline cellulose) with novel solvents for
efficient conversion to biofuels.
. Designed experiments and hands on experience on analytical balance,
titrations, sample preparation, reactors, viscometers, pH meters and
filtration techniques.
. The materials were tested using laboratory instruments such as UV
Spectrophotometers, High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas
chromatography (GC), FTIR spectrophotometers, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD),
Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Scanning Electron Microscope.
. Relevant course work included: Thermodynamics, Heat transfer, Mass
transfer, Fluid mechanics, Material Science & Engineering, Colloids &
Surface Phenomena and Kinetics.
Co-op Process Engineer, Indian Oil Corporation, Panipat Refinery, India.
2008
. Reviewed process flow diagrams and supported troubleshooting for the
refinery process units such as atmospheric vacuum distillation unit,
once through hydrocracker unit, visbreaker unit, catalytic reforming
unit, diesel hydrodesulphurization unit and catalytic cracking unit.
. Designed chemical plant equipments such as heat exchangers,
distillation column, compressors and continuous reactors.
. Conducted energy performance assessment of furnaces and boilers of the
Hydrocracker unit and compared the results to maximize the efficiency
of the equipments.
. Performed process calculations for continuous online monitoring of the
pre-reformer catalyst and watched the loading/unloading of catalyst
for the hydrogen generation unit.
Marketing/Sales Intern, Just Energy, Buffalo, New York. 2010.
. Procured potential customers for the Price Protection Program and
provided viable solutions to stabilize the fluctuations in the energy
rate.
. Performed cause-effect analysis for deregulations in the energy
market.
. Evaluated renewable green energy options such as GEO gas and power to
reduce carbon offsets.
Research Intern, Indian Oil Corporation, R&D Center, Hydro processing
Division, India.2006
. Familiar with various refinery processes and pilot plants of crude and
vacuum distillation, Hydrogen unit catalytic and fluidized catalytic
cracking.
. Executed viscosity and flash point experiments for biodiesel and
diesel.
PROJECTS
Research Assistant, Studies on Production on Cellulases by microbial
fermentation. 2007
. Use of cellulose nanoparticles subjected to different degrees of
sonication.
Research Assistant, Alternative Fuel: Biodiesel. 2007.
. Devised a novel method of manufacturing biodiesel from waste cooking
oil so as to evaluate this alternative fuel in reducing the demand of
petroleum products.

Access, outlook), SQL.
ACHIEVEMENTS
. Represented State University of New York, Buffalo at the 1st
International conference on Biofuels organized by Delhi Technological
University (DTU) on 18-19th Jan 2010.
. Presented a poster on the topic "Dissolution of Cellulose" in an open
house symposium held in University at Buffalo in the year 2009-2010.
