OBJECTIVE
Equipment Engineer position involving coordinating/scheduling and
installing new equipment and robotics in wafer fab manufacturing,
diagnosing and solving problems, organizing and managing personnel,
materials and engineering process procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
28 years of experience as a manager of wafer fab line maintenance and
equipment engineer with expertise in vacuum, thin film (sputtering) and dry
etch; extensive experience in the installation, modification and
maintenance of process equipment and in the effective management and
training of personnel.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Upgraded and reorganized a complete wafer fab class 10 clean room. Analyzed
existing conditions; redesigned layout and process flow of manufacturing
equipment without a major decrease in production: cross-trained and
repositioned staff; met and exceeded critical time lines for installation
and operation of new equipment and processes. Results: Reduced wafer
production costs by 15%; increased production rate by 10%.
Handled all administrative functions for wafer fab line maintenance and
equipment engineering department. Interviewed, hired, handled delicate
employee issues, conducted reviews for disciplinary actions, raises and
promotions; trained staff on troubleshooting techniques, quality management
procedures and computer programs; created and controlled departmental
budgets; rewrote preventive maintenance manual; coordinated/supervised
emergency response team for chemical spills, gas leaks, fires and medical
emergencies.
Coordinated and organized installation of Novellus Passivation System.
Assessed site for location and utility requirements; obtained cost
estimates for ancillary equipment and contractors; liaison with field
service rep to move, facilitized and turn on new system; learned how to
operate equipment; trained engineers on a two-system operation. Results:
Increased production by 20%; reduced wafer scraps by 15%.
Improved critical process of manufactured wafers. Evaluated existing
process steps; tested new methods and upgrades for sputtering system;
coordinated upgrades on the equipment; supervised training of operators.
Results: Increased quality of wafers which resulted in a 15% increase in
yields; reduced production costs by 10%.
Upgraded inefficient and out-of-date gas delivery system without
interruption in fab operations. Evaluated the old gas delivery system;
researched and received quotes for new equipment; coordinated and arranged
installation; trained line maintenance techs; supervised operation of the
system. Results: Increased production time by 15%.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Supertex
5/8/2010 to 6/11/2010
My responsibilities were to maintain the diffusion area on swing shift. I
did troubleshooting down to pc board level and programmed the thermco's.
Solexant solar 4/13/09 to 6/22/09
My responsibilities were to organize the parts for a vacuum sputtering
machine build. I worked on building the sputter from ground up and did some
of the design work. I worked on electrical and mechanical parts of the
equipment. I am also a qualified fork lift operator with a license.
Kelly Engineering 9/26/2008 to
12/31/2008
My responsibilities were to schedule PM's on fab equipment and to schedule
training for the tech's that work on the equipment. This job was located at
Western Digital.
Ch2mHill 3/26/2008 to
6/25/2008
My responsibility was to design and make CAD drawings for the location of
Fab equipment. This included all the facilitizing and positioning of the
equipment in the fab.
Supertex 1/26/2008 to
3/26/2008
Equipment Engineer
My responsibility was to find equipment and processing problems. I would
write a report to upper management to implement certain changes they needed
to address. I helped improve their equipment maintenance group and to help
the wafer yields.
Fairchild Imaging 2001 to 2008
Process Engineering
My responsibility was to maintain and improve the processing in the
production of making wafers for CCD's. I maintained and improved the
processing in the diffusion, Thin Films, Sputtering and Ion Implantation.
The equipment I maintained the process for was (Diffusion= Bruce and TMX
10000's)(Thin Films= LPCVD and PECVD)(Sputtering=Varian 3180,3117,3118 and
the MRC Eclipse Mark IV) and (ion implanter= 350de).
I maintained the process by using SPC charts to make sure it stays within
the upper and lower control limits.
I was also assigned to maintain quality of the wafers coming from our
foundry company. This was to keep wafers coming into our company after our
fab was shut down.
Linear Technology 2000
to 2001
Engineer, Equipment
Engineered upgrades and maintained equipment in the production of wafers.
My area of responsibility was Diffusion, Thin Films, Sputtering and Ion
Implanters. My main job function was to make sure the equipment functioned
correctly and to make sure if needed, to upgrade for better process
control.
The equipment that I worked on was Tegal, ASM, lmplanter, LAM's, Novellus,
EPl, Varian 3290's and 3180's
