PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Tempur Pedic International, Lexington, KY
2000-2009
Publically traded (NYSE) Global manufacturer and distributor of mattresses
and pillows made from memory foam with annual revenues of approximately
$1B.
Vice President of Finance, Global Operations, Lexington, Kentucky (2007 -
2009)
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, I was responsible for all
financial aspects of global operations team, spanning two domestic and one
international manufacturing location, sourcing, supply chain, information
technology and research and development. Total spend managed was $450mm.
. Developed and drove actual cost model that identified $5mm in annual
cost savings, which is 1% of annual cost of good sold. This project
involved leading a cross functional team which improved cost
visibility and cost reductions within the manufacturing organization.
. Collaborated with global taxation leadership to develop domestic back
office reorganization realizing $2mm in annual state tax savings.
. Developed global supply chain strategy which involved identifying new
manufacturing sites, locations and modes of distribution as well as
new sourcing partners. Project identified $5mm in annual cash savings
as well as improved service levels to customers at reduced cost.
Vice President of Finance, International Controller (2003 - 2007)
Reporting to the EVP of International Sales I was responsible for all
financial aspects of the international sales organization during a period
of 65% sales growth which included 16 western European subsidiaries, 2
Asian subsidiaries and 30 third party distributors. Indirectly managed
the subsidiary controllers, directly managed the international information
technology, financial planning and analysis and internal audit functions.
Revenue was $400mm at end of 2007.
. Managed international coordination for initial public offering on NYSE
in December 2003 as well as led Sarbanes Oxley 404 implementation for
all international subsidiaries.
. Created back office shared service center in Scandinavia. Enabled the
region to improve service to customers while saving $1m.
. Drove working capital improvement through new processes resulting in
$2mm in improved cash flow.
. Sponsored ERP implementation across western European subsidiaries.
Project involved harmonizing legacy systems and developing a common
data dictionary into one ERP instance.
. Championed data integrity and consistent application of accounting
policies to ensure comparable data between markets.
Chief Financial Officer, North America, Lexington, KY (2000 - 2003)
Reporting to the President of the North American sales organization, I was
responsible for all financial aspects of the domestic sales organization.
Directly managed the accounting, finance, inventory control and travel
departments during a period of 153% sales growth. Revenue was $300mm at
end of 2003.
. Developed a compressed month end closing process reducing the days to
close by 50% to five business days.
. Converted accounting systems from Real World to ORACLE.
. Implemented second look credit program in the consumer direct business
which generated $4mm in incremental sales.
. Consolidated banking relationship to one financial institution
achieving cost reductions and improved cash management.
. Developed cash flow model for $115MM global debt and equity
transaction.
. Developed and implemented domestic pricing strategy.
. Promoted from Controller to VP of Finance in July 2002.
The Mason and Hanger Corporation, Lexington, KY 1990 - 2000
$500mm design/build GOCO engineering firm with 17 domestic operations
primarily operating in the government defense industry. Various roles held
included: controller at the design build subsidiary (1998 to 2000),
controller at the manufacturing firm (1997 to 1998) and senior corporate
accountant (1990 to 1997) with the parent corporation. Lead integration of
business unit to Day and Zimmerman, which acquired The Mason and Hanger
Corporation in 1999.
. Managed the human resources, procurement, facilities management and
the accounting groups within the controllership roles.
. Developed various new business proposals and led successful bid and
subsequent integration of $20mm new contract.
. Responsible for multi tier corporate consolidation, cash management,
risk management functions.
