Project Superintendent in charge of the renovation of an old high school building into a middle school including a new elevator, exterior window replacement, ADA upgrades and new interior finishes. This was a three phase project completed while the building was in use as a middle school. The projected was completed two months ahead of schedule and under budget; this was accomplished by aggressively scheduling multiple tasks during school vacations and close interaction with the school administration. Attention to avoid interruption of academic activities was essential to maintaining an excellent relationship with the owner. Additionally, Safety, Subcontractor supervision, Quality Control and scheduling were my responsibility.
Project Superintendent, Lee Kennedy Co.
I was employed as Project Superintendent in charge of construction of the new Kennett High School in North Conway, N.H. I replaced a retiring superintendent in July 07 with project 6 weeks behind schedule and at about 40% completion. I was able to complete the project 3 months ahead of the contract completion date and under budget. This was accomplished by "getting out of the office trailer & getting your boots dirty" meaning constantly checking on subcontractors, encouraging foremen, offering ideas that will further everyone's goals and making sure that all work is being installed correctly the first time. I inherited a very young staff consisting of an Asst. Superintendent, MEP Coordinator, On-Site Project Manager, Assistant Project manager. 48 subcontractors with up to 150 on site employees, union and open shop, were under my supervision. Site safety, Quality Control, Sub Contractor supervision and scheduling were my primary responsibilities. This 220,000 S.F. High School and Regional Vocational Center had a construction cost of $33.5 million.
2005-2006 Project Superintendent, Benchmark
I served as Project Superintendent in charge of the construction of a ground up 65,000 S.F, 6.3 million dollar elementary school in Auburn, Maine. Utilizing an aggressive schedule, I completed this project six weeks ahead of schedule despite structural steel being delivered to the site six weeks late. Acceleration of the concrete slab placement schedule, aggressive performance by the drywall subcontractor, and early interior finish scheduling allowed the early turnover of the school to the owner.
2004-2005 Project Superintendent, The Penobscot Company
I completed the 1.3 million dollar retail and office building for the Salvation Army one month ahead of contract completion. We self performed the steel erection, TGI floor system, wall panel installation, roof truss erection, sheathing and exterior siding allowing us to keep the project on schedule through a very tough Maine winter.
2002-2004 Project Superintendent, Wright-Ryan Construction
I completed a 6.8 million dollar historic renovation of former 1889 hospital building into office space. This project included extensive structural upgrades, new slate roof, new elevator shaft, historic masonry repairs, and terrazzo floor renewal. Our crew completed this project on time and on budget despite the estimating department leaving off the bid over $100,000 of self performed carpentry work. I overcame this omission thru the use of subcontractors and efficient planning of the carpentry work.
1995-2002 Project Superintendent, Nowak Construction
I served as Project Superintendent completing several school projects,
Other projects included a ground up recreational facility with Olympic
size swimming pool, the renovation of two former mental hospital buildings into office space and a two year expansion and renovation of an assisted living facility. While at Nowak Construction, I assembled a crew of carpenters, purchased concrete forms and self performed all our project foundations as an aid to scheduling. Additionally, I did all my own building layout, scheduling and project management. All my projects for Nowak Construction were completed ahead of schedule and proved to be profitable.
1994-1995 Masonry Superintendent, Granger Northern
Duties included assembling a crew and equipment at Brunswick High School after masonry contractor ceased operations.
1993-1994 Estimator, Maine Masonry Inc.
