I was responsible for 129 direct reports, and I also handled routing and
efficiency logistics for two fleets that serviced 14 counties (approx 25%
of the state). My duties included the municipal operations and customer
service, and I worked directly with city, county, and state officials to
maintain an excellent rapport as well as insuring we met all DOT, OSHA and
DEHEC regulations as stipulated in both the federal and state regulations.
I handled driver relations, commercial customer setup as well as ongoing
customer service, and I also directed sales in various pricing and service
areas. My scope of work included 27 collection sites and the employees at
the sites. I was responsible for the hiring, training, and discipline for
all associates of this business unit. I also helped in the yearly budget
setup, and then maintained the budgets for each fleet and division as set
up within the Florence business unit. I was in charge of all dispatch and
data entry operations. All vendors reported directly to me for assignments
and price negotiations, and I was responsible for timely completion as well
as company compliance for all vendors within this business unit. This
included general maintenance, site cleanliness, parts inventories, and
equipment maintenance rotations.

I started at American Freightways, currently FedEx Freight, as a local
driver. I then completed the Leadership Apprentice Course and became an
Operations Supervisor for the Duncan terminal. I was responsible for
outbound operations, customer service and dispatch, maintaining loading and
production goals, and meeting goals for time-management of 11 dockworkers,
5 office employees, and 32 drivers. On January 14, 2006 I relocated to
Dothan, AL and accepted the position of terminal manager for that facility,
a 24-door LTL trucking center. My job responsibilities include all
administrative duties including payroll, accounting, safety, and human
resources. I was also in charge of maintaining a 99% efficiency rating on
Inbound and Outbound deliveries with less than 1% OS&D, rating, and return
policy. I was also responsible for maintaining costs for the terminal and
regulating overtime while maintaining center compliance to company
standards. I made SCM sales calls in addition to joint sales calls each
month, and I maintained a working relationship with the other operating
companies and have a working knowledge of their products and services. I
am also in charge of warehousing, storage, and inter-regional pricing for
our facility. Selecting vendors and maintaining the upkeep of the center
and overseeing the maintenance of all equipment were also my
responsibility. During my employment as terminal manager, I had received
five leadership awards for leadership and management excellence and two
sales awards for customer service and growth.
